    30 Prayers for Freedom with Scriptures to Back

    We all crave freedom – freedom from sin, fear, anxiety, and the chains that bind us. Prayer is a powerful tool to unlock that freedom, connecting us to the ultimate source of liberation.

    These prayers, each paired with relevant scriptures, offers a guide to seeking God’s intervention in various areas of life where we long for release.

    These prayers are designed to help you break free from negative patterns, embrace God’s promises, and walk in the fullness of the liberty Christ has won for us.

    30 Prayers for Freedom

    1. Romans 8:1-2

    “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.”

    Lord, I come before You, embracing the truth that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

    I pray for the power of the Spirit of life to set me free from the chains of sin and death. Grant me the strength to walk in Your freedom, understanding that Your grace covers all my weaknesses and faults.

    2. Galatians 5:1

    “For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.”

    Heavenly Father, thank You for the freedom we have in Christ Jesus. I pray for the courage to stand firm and resist any form of bondage that tries to entangle me.

    Give me the wisdom to recognize the yokes of slavery that may creep into my life. Empower me to live a life of true freedom, free from fear, guilt, and oppression.

    3. 2 Corinthians 3:17

    “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”

    Holy Spirit, I invite You into every area of my life. Where You dwell, there is freedom. I pray for Your presence to fill me and to drive out anything that is not of You.

    Let Your freedom reign in my heart, mind, and soul. Guide me in truth and help me to walk in the liberty that only You can provide.

    4. Isaiah 61:1

    “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound.”

    Lord, I thank You for anointing me with Your Spirit. I pray that You use me to bring good news to the poor and to bind up the brokenhearted.

    Proclaim liberty through me to those who are captive and open the prison doors for those who are bound. Let Your anointing breaks every chain and set the captives free.

    5. Psalm 118:5

    “Out of my distress I called on the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me free.”

    Father, in my distress, I call upon Your name. I trust in Your promise to hear me and to set me free. Deliver me from all my troubles and let me experience Your saving grace.

    Help me to rely on You in times of need and to find freedom in Your steadfast love and faithfulness.

    6. James 1:25

    “But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.”

    Lord, help me to look into Your perfect law, the law of liberty. Teach me to not only be a hearer of Your word but a doer.

    As I act upon Your truths, let me experience the blessings that come with obedience. Grant me the perseverance to continue in Your ways and to live a life of freedom.

    7. Psalm 34:17

    “When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.”

    Lord, I cry out to You in my times of trouble. I trust in Your promise to hear the cries of the righteous and to deliver them.

    Rescue me from all my afflictions and grant me the freedom to walk in Your light. Strengthen my faith as I wait on Your deliverance and let Your salvation be my testimony.

    8. Colossians 1:13-14

    “He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”

    Heavenly Father, thank You for delivering me from the domain of darkness and bringing me into the kingdom of Your beloved Son. I praise You for the redemption and forgiveness I have in Christ.

    Help me to live in the light of this freedom, knowing that I am no longer a slave to sin but a child of Your kingdom.

    9. 1 Peter 2:16

    “Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God.”

    Lord, teach me to live as a person who is truly free. Let me use my freedom to serve You and not as a cover-up for evil. Guide my actions and thoughts so that they reflect Your goodness and grace.

    May my life be a testament to Your liberating power, showing others the way to true freedom in Christ.

    10. Psalm 119:45

    “And I shall walk in a wide place, for I have sought your precepts.”

    Lord, I pray for the freedom to walk in a wide place, as I seek Your precepts. Lead me in Your ways and grant me the liberty that comes from knowing and following Your Word.

    Let my steps be guided by Your truth and may I experience the spaciousness of Your grace.

    11. Luke 4:18

    “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed.”

    Lord, I thank You for the anointing of Your Spirit. I pray that You use me to proclaim liberty to the captives and to set at liberty those who are oppressed.

    Let Your good news bring freedom and hope to all who hear it. Empower me to be a vessel of Your liberating power.

    12. Psalm 146:7

    “Who executes justice for the oppressed, who gives food to the hungry. The Lord sets the prisoners free.”

    Father, I praise You for being a God of justice and compassion. I pray for Your justice to prevail in my life and in the lives of those who are oppressed.

    Set the prisoners free and provide for the hungry. Let Your mercy and righteousness flow like a river.

    13. Acts 13:39

    “And by him everyone who believes is freed from everything from which you could not be freed by the law of Moses.”

    Lord Jesus, I thank You for the freedom that comes through faith in You. I pray for the liberation of my heart and mind from all that the law of Moses could not free me.

    Help me to live in the grace and freedom that You provide, trusting in Your finished work on the cross.

    14. Jeremiah 34:15

    “You recently repented and did what was right in my eyes by proclaiming liberty, each to his neighbor, and you made a covenant before me in the house that is called by my name.”

    Lord, I pray for a heart of repentance and a commitment to proclaim liberty to my neighbors.

    Help me to do what is right in Your eyes and to honor the covenant I have made before You. Let my life be a testimony of Your grace and freedom.

    15. Psalm 107:14

    “He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and burst their bonds apart.”

    Father, I thank You for bringing me out of darkness and the shadow of death. Burst the bonds that hold me captive and lead me into the light of Your presence.

    Let Your deliverance be my testimony and fill my heart with gratitude for Your saving grace.

    16. Isaiah 42:7

    “To open the eyes that are blind, to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon, from the prison those who sit in darkness.”

    Lord, I pray for the opening of blind eyes and the release of prisoners from the dungeon.

    Bring out those who sit in darkness and lead them into the light of Your truth. Use me as an instrument of Your freedom and let Your light shine through me.

    17. Zechariah 9:11

    “As for you also, because of the blood of my covenant with you, I will set your prisoners free from the waterless pit.”

    Heavenly Father, I thank You for the blood of Your covenant that sets prisoners free.

    Deliver me from the waterless pit and lead me into the fullness of Your promises. Let Your covenant of grace and mercy be my source of freedom and strength.

    18. Psalm 91:14-15

    “Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows my name. When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him.”

    Lord, I hold fast to You in love and trust in Your promise of deliverance. Protect me and be with me in times of trouble. When I call to You, answer me and rescue me. Let Your honor and glory be my shield and my refuge.

    19. 1 Corinthians 7:22

    “For he who was called in the Lord as a bondservant is a freedman of the Lord. Likewise, he who was free when called is a bondservant of Christ.”

    Lord, I thank You for calling me into Your freedom. Help me to understand that as a bondservant of Christ, I am truly free.

    Let my life reflect the freedom and servanthood that come from being in relationship with You. May I serve You with a heart full of gratitude and love.

    20. Hebrews 2:14-15

    “Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery.”

    Lord Jesus, I thank You for partaking in flesh and blood to destroy the power of death and deliver me from lifelong slavery. I pray for freedom from the fear of death and all forms of bondage.

    Help me to live in the victory You have won, and let my life reflect Your conquering power.

    21. 2 Timothy 2:26

    “And they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will.”

    Heavenly Father, I pray for the wisdom to come to my senses and escape the snares of the devil. Deliver me from any trap that seeks to capture and control me.

    Grant me the discernment to recognize his schemes and the strength to resist them, living in the freedom You provide.

    22. Isaiah 58:6

    “Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke?”

    Lord, I pray for Your chosen fast to loose the bonds of wickedness and to break every yoke. Let the oppressed go free through Your power. Use me as an instrument of Your justice and mercy.

    Let Your freedom flow through my actions and words, bringing liberation to those in need.

    23. Psalm 25:15

    “My eyes are ever toward the Lord, for he will pluck my feet out of the net.”

    Father, I fix my eyes on You, trusting in Your promise to pluck my feet out of the net. Rescue me from any traps that seek to ensnare me and lead me into Your safety. Let Your guidance and protection be my refuge and strength.

    24. Isaiah 9:4

    “For the yoke of his burden, and the staff for his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, you have broken as on the day of Midian.”

    Lord, I thank You for breaking the yoke of my burden and the rod of my oppressor.

    Let the victory You achieved on the day of Midian be my strength and encouragement. Help me to walk in the freedom You have won and to trust in Your deliverance.

    25. Psalm 142:7

    “Bring me out of prison, that I may give thanks to your name! The righteous will surround me, for you will deal bountifully with me.”

    Lord, I cry out for deliverance from any prison that holds me captive. Bring me out so that I may give thanks to Your name.

    Surround me with the righteous and let Your bountiful dealings be evident in my life. Fill my heart with gratitude and praise for Your freedom.

    26. Jeremiah 30:8

    “And it shall come to pass in that day, declares the Lord of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off your neck, and I will burst your bonds, and foreigners shall no more make a servant of him.”

    Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your promise to break the yoke from my neck and to burst my bonds. Let no one make a servant of me but You.

    Grant me the freedom to serve You wholeheartedly and to live in the liberty of Your love and grace.

    27. Psalm 68:6

    “God settles the solitary in a home; he leads out the prisoners to prosperity, but the rebellious dwell in a parched land.”

    Lord, I thank You for settling the solitary in a home and leading prisoners to prosperity. I pray for Your guidance and provision in my life.

    Lead me out of captivity and into the fullness of Your blessings. Let my life be a testament to Your faithfulness and mercy.

    28. Luke 1:74-75

    “That we, being delivered from the hand of our enemies, might serve him without fear, in holiness and righteousness before him all our days.”

    Lord, I thank You for delivering me from the hand of my enemies. I pray for the freedom to serve You without fear, in holiness and righteousness, all my days.

    Let my life be a reflection of Your saving grace and a testimony of Your goodness.

    29. Psalm 107:16

    “For he shatters the doors of bronze and cuts in two the bars of iron.”

    Father, I praise You for shattering the doors of bronze and cutting in two the bars of iron. Break every barrier that holds me captive and lead me into the freedom You have promised.

    Let Your power and might be evident in my life, and fill my heart with gratitude for Your deliverance.

    30. John 8:36

    “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”

    Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that true freedom comes only through You. I ask for Your divine intervention to break every chain that holds me captive. Let me experience the fullness of the freedom You have promised.

    Fill my heart with Your peace, and let my life be a reflection of Your liberating power and grace.
