    30 Prayers for Repeated Sin with Scriptures to Back

    Struggling with repeated sin can feel disheartening, but it’s an opportunity to draw closer to God’s mercy. Through prayer and scripture, we can seek his forgiveness, strength, and renewal to break free from harmful patterns.

    These prayers rooted in God’s word, offers guidance for repentance, restoration, and transformation.

    By embracing his promises and relying on the power of the Holy Spirit, these prayers encourage a heart of humility, perseverance, and hope.

    Let this journey of prayer be a step toward victory and a deeper relationship with God.

    30 Prayers for Repeated Sin

    1. 1 John 1:9

    “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

    Lord, I confess my repeated sins to You and ask for Your forgiveness. I thank You for Your faithfulness and justice, and for the promise that You will cleanse me from all unrighteousness.

    Help me to believe in Your mercy and let go of guilt as I turn back to You with a repentant heart.

    Father, give me the strength to resist temptation and to walk in the freedom You provide. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit, who renews my heart and mind, so that I can live in obedience and grow in faith.

    2. Romans 7:18-19

    “For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing.”

    Lord, I feel the struggle within me as Paul describes in Romans. I long to do what is right, yet I often fall into the trap of sin. Please have mercy on me and guide me as I wrestle with my human weakness.

    Father, remind me that Your power is perfected in my weakness. Help me to surrender fully to You and to trust in Your ability to transform my heart and life, so that I may overcome sin and pursue righteousness.

    3. Psalm 51:10

    “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.”

    Heavenly Father, I come to You with a broken and contrite heart, asking You to create in me a clean heart.

    Renew my spirit, Lord, and restore me to a place of joy and peace in Your presence. Help me to let go of sin and cling to You alone.

    Fill me with a deep longing for purity and holiness, Lord. Let Your grace empower me to make choices that honor You and to live a life that reflects Your righteousness.

    4. 2 Corinthians 12:9

    “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”

    Lord, I often feel weak and incapable of overcoming repeated sin, but I cling to the truth that Your grace is sufficient for me.

    Strengthen me with Your power, which is made perfect in my weakness, and help me to rely on You in every struggle I face.

    Father, teach me to see my weaknesses as an opportunity to grow closer to You. Let Your power rest upon me and enable me to walk in freedom from sin through the victory that Christ has already won for me.

    5. Hebrews 12:1-2

    “Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”

    Lord, help me to lay aside the sin that clings so closely and to run with endurance the race You have set before me.

    Teach me to fix my eyes on Jesus, who endured the cross to set me free. Let his example inspire me to persevere in my journey of faith.

    Father, remove the burdens that weigh me down and hold me back. Help me to trust in Your guidance and to rely on Your strength as I pursue the path of righteousness.

    6. James 4:7

    “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

    Lord, I submit myself to You completely, surrendering every part of my life to Your will.

    Teach me to resist the devil and the temptations that seek to draw me away from You. Strengthen me with Your Word and Spirit, and help me stand firm in the face of sin.

    Father, I trust in Your promise that the enemy will flee when I resist him in Your name. Empower me to walk in Your truth and to live a life that glorifies You.

    7. Galatians 5:16

    “But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.”

    Holy Spirit, I ask for Your help in walking according to Your guidance. Lead me away from the desires of the flesh and teach me to walk in step with You.

    Fill my heart and mind with Your presence, and transform me from the inside out.

    Lord, I trust that as I walk by Your Spirit, You will empower me to overcome sin and live in the freedom and victory of Christ. Help me to grow daily in my relationship with You.

    8. Micah 7:8-9

    “Rejoice not over me, O my enemy; when I fall, I shall rise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord will be a light to me. I will bear the indignation of the Lord because I have sinned against him, until he pleads my cause and executes judgment for me. He will bring me out to the light; I shall look upon his vindication.”

    Lord, I thank You for being my light in the darkness, even when I stumble. When I fall, remind me that through Your grace, I can rise again.

    Plead my cause, Lord, and bring me out of the darkness of sin into the light of Your truth and mercy.

    Father, let me not be defined by my failures but by Your redemption. Help me to trust in Your justice and to walk in the hope of Your saving power.

    9. Philippians 4:13

    “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”

    Lord, I declare that through Christ, I have the strength to overcome sin. Remind me of Your power working within me and help me to draw on Your strength in times of temptation and weakness.

    Father, teach me to live with confidence in the truth that I can do all things through You. Empower me to walk in righteousness and to glorify Your name in all I do.

    10. Colossians 3:2-3

    “Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.”

    Lord, help me to set my mind on heavenly things and to focus on Your kingdom. Teach me to turn away from sinful desires and to fix my thoughts on what is pure, true, and pleasing to You.

    Father, remind me daily that my identity is found in You. Strengthen my commitment to live a life that honors You, free from the chains of sin, and full of Your grace and truth.

    11. Ezekiel 36:26

    “And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.”

    Lord, I pray for a new heart and a renewed spirit within me. Remove the hardness in my heart caused by repeated sin and replace it with a heart that is soft and obedient to You.

    Father, let Your Spirit work in me to bring about lasting change. Help me to walk in Your ways with a heart that desires to please You and glorify Your name in all that I do.

    12. Romans 8:1

    “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”

    Lord, I thank You that in Christ, I am no longer under condemnation. Help me to remember that Your grace covers my sins and gives me the power to overcome them.

    Father, let the truth of Your Word fill me with confidence to face each day without fear or guilt. Help me to step into the freedom and victory that is mine through Jesus.

    13. Psalm 103:12

    “As far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.”

    Lord, I thank You for Your incredible mercy in removing my sins far from me. Help me to accept Your forgiveness and move forward in faith, trusting that You have blotted out my transgressions completely.

    Father, as I reflect on Your boundless grace, fill my heart with gratitude and humility. Teach me to extend the same grace to others and to live a life that honors Your forgiveness.

    14. 1 Corinthians 10:13

    “No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.”

    Lord, I thank You for being faithful even in the face of temptation. Help me to recognize the way of escape that You provide and to take it without hesitation.

    Father, remind me that I am not alone in my struggles, and that Your power enables me to overcome every temptation. Equip me with the courage to resist and walk in the freedom of Your truth.

    15. Matthew 6:13

    “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.”

    Lord, I ask for Your protection from the traps of temptation and sin. Lead me away from situations that could cause me to stumble, and deliver me from the power of evil. Surround me with Your presence and keep me close to You.

    Father, remind me daily to seek Your guidance and rely on Your strength. Let Your Word be a lamp to my feet, leading me away from sin and into Your righteousness.

    16. 2 Corinthians 5:17

    “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”

    Lord, I thank You that in Christ, I am a new creation. Help me to leave behind the sins of my past and to embrace the new life You have given me. Strengthen my resolve to live in a way that reflects my identity in You.

    Father, let the truth of my new identity shape my actions and choices. Teach me to walk confidently in the freedom and transformation that comes from being made new in Christ.

    17. Psalm 119:11

    “I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.”

    Lord, I pray that Your Word would be hidden in my heart, guiding my thoughts and actions. Help me to meditate on Scripture daily and to use it as a weapon against the pull of sin. Fill me with a love for Your truth.

    Father, let Your Word shape my desires and strengthen my resolve to resist sin. May it be the foundation of my life and a constant reminder of Your promises.

    18. Isaiah 1:18

    “Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.”

    Lord, I thank You for the cleansing power of Your grace. Even though my sins are great, You have promised to make them as white as snow. Help me to rest in Your forgiveness and to let go of the guilt that holds me back.

    Father, teach me to trust in Your ability to restore and renew. Let Your grace inspire me to walk in holiness and to pursue a life that honors You.

    19. Philippians 1:6

    “And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”

    Lord, I thank You for the work You have begun in my life. Even though I struggle with sin, I trust that You will bring Your work to completion.

    Help me to remain patient and hopeful as You shape me into the person You’ve called me to be.

    Father, give me the perseverance to keep pressing forward, trusting in Your faithfulness. Let Your promises be a source of encouragement and strength as I grow in You.

    20. Colossians 1:13-14

    “He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”

    Lord, I thank You for delivering me from the domain of darkness and bringing me into Your kingdom. Help me to live as someone redeemed and forgiven, rejecting the chains of sin that once held me captive.

    Father, remind me daily of the freedom I have in Christ. Let the joy of my salvation fuel my desire to live for You and to reflect Your love and grace in all I do.

    21. Matthew 26:41

    “Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

    Lord, I pray for vigilance and strength to watch and pray continually. Help me to be mindful of the temptations around me and guard my heart against falling.

    Father, teach me the discipline of constant prayer and reliance on You. Let my awareness of temptation drive me closer to Your presence, where I can find strength and deliverance from sin.

    22. Lamentations 3:22-23

    “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”

    Lord, I thank You for Your unending love and mercy that renews each day. When I stumble, remind me of Your faithfulness and grace.

    Help me to rise each morning with a renewed commitment to walk in righteousness and leave sin behind.

    Father, let the hope of Your mercies sustain me through my struggles. Teach me to depend on Your love and forgiveness as I seek to grow in holiness and strength.

    23. Titus 2:11-12

    “For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age.”

    Lord, I thank You for Your grace that brings salvation and teaches me to turn away from sin.

    Train me, through Your Spirit, to live a life of self-control and godliness. Help me to reject worldly passions and follow Your ways with a pure heart.

    Father, may Your grace transform my thoughts, actions, and desires. Let it shape me into a person who lives to honor You in every aspect of life.

    24. Ephesians 4:22-24

    “To put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.”

    Lord, I pray for the strength to put off my old self, with its sinful ways and desires, and to embrace the new self You have created in me. Renew my mind and spirit so that I may reflect Your righteousness and holiness in my life.

    Father, remind me of the identity You’ve given me in Christ. Help me to live in alignment with Your likeness and to walk boldly in the freedom You provide.

    25. 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24

    “Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it.”

    Lord, I ask for Your sanctifying power to transform my spirit, soul, and body. Cleanse me and make me whole, so that I may be blameless before You. I trust in Your faithfulness to complete the work You have begun in me.

    Father, let Your peace guard my heart and lead me in the process of sanctification. Help me to embrace the changes You are making in me and to live in anticipation of Christ’s return.

    26. Psalm 32:5

    “I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity; I said, ‘I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,’ and you forgave the iniquity of my sin.”

    Lord, I acknowledge my repeated sins before You and confess my transgressions with a sincere heart.

    Thank You for the assurance of Your forgiveness and for covering my iniquities with Your grace. Restore the joy of my salvation as I seek to walk with You.

    Father, remind me that confession brings freedom and renewal. Teach me to come to You honestly and trust in Your unfailing mercy to heal and restore me.

    27. Romans 6:6

    “We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin.”

    Lord, I thank You that my old self was crucified with Christ, breaking the power of sin over my life. Help me to live in the reality of this truth, no longer enslaved to sin but free to follow You wholeheartedly.

    Father, give me the strength to resist the pull of my old nature. Let the victory of the cross empower me to walk in the freedom and newness of life that You’ve given me.

    28. Proverbs 28:13

    “Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.”

    Lord, I pray for the courage to confess and forsake my sins. Help me to bring everything into the light, trusting in Your promise of mercy. Teach me to let go of my sinful ways and to pursue righteousness with all my heart.

    Father, remind me that concealing sin only holds me back from experiencing Your grace. Let me find freedom in confessing and turning away from sin, knowing that Your mercy is always available.

    29. 2 Peter 1:3

    “His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence.”

    Lord, I thank You for the divine power You’ve given me to live a life of godliness.

    Teach me to rely on Your strength and knowledge as I seek to break free from sin. Remind me of Your calling to live for Your glory and excellence.

    Father, let Your power work in me to overcome every struggle and temptation. Help me to grow in my relationship with You and to reflect Your glory in all that I do.

    30. John 8:36

    “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”

    Lord, I thank You for the freedom You’ve given me through Christ. Help me to walk boldly in that freedom, leaving behind the chains of sin and embracing the life You’ve called me to.

    Father, let the truth of my freedom in Christ strengthen my resolve to live for You. May my life be a testimony of Your saving power and abundant grace.

    Conclusion

    Overcoming repeated sin is a journey of surrender, perseverance, and reliance on God’s grace.

    Through prayer and scripture, we find the strength to acknowledge our weaknesses, seek forgiveness, and trust in His transformative power.
