Drawing upon biblical principles and powerful verses from Scripture, these prayers seek to provide comfort, assurance, and peace to the dying and their loved ones.

They address various spiritual needs, including forgiveness, acceptance, and the hope of eternal life.

These prayers are intended to be a source of strength and solace during a challenging time, offering a pathway to a peaceful and meaningful transition.

30 Seal Prayers for the Dying

    1. Acts 2:14

But Peter, standing with the eleven, lifted up his voice and addressed them: “Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and give ear to my words.

Lord, as Peter boldly proclaimed the truth to the multitudes, may this dying soul be filled with the courage of the Spirit to face the unknown.

May any fear of death be replaced with a confident hope in your resurrection power. Grant them peace that surpasses all understanding as they transition into eternity.

    2. Romans 8:38-39

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Lord, as Romans 8:38-39 declares, may this soul experience the unshakeable love of God in their final moments. May they know that nothing, absolutely nothing, can separate them from Your embrace.

Grant them a sense of profound peace and security, knowing they are eternally safe in Your loving hands.

    3. Philippians 1:21

For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

Lord, as Paul testified in Philippians 1:21, may this dying soul experience death as a gain, a glorious entrance into Your eternal presence.

May their faith remain steadfast, knowing that to be absent from the body is to be present with You. Grant them a joyful anticipation of the life to come.

    4. 2 Corinthians 5:8

Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.

Lord, as Paul expressed in 2 Corinthians 5:8, may this soul yearn to be away from the earthly body and at home with You.

May their departure from this world be a joyful homecoming, a return to the loving embrace of their heavenly Father.

Grant them a peaceful and triumphant transition.

    5. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14

But we do not want you to be ignorant, brothers, about those who have fallen asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.

Lord, as 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 assures us, may the grief of those who mourn this loss be tempered with the hope of the resurrection.

May they find comfort in the knowledge that their loved one is now resting in peace with You. Grant them strength to endure their sorrow and a renewed hope for the future.

    6. John 14:2

In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?

Lord, as Jesus promised in John 14:2, may this dying soul find comfort in the assurance that You have gone to prepare a place for them in Your heavenly home.

Lord, as Jesus proclaimed in John 11:25-26, may this dying soul experience the life-giving power of Your resurrection.

May their faith remain strong in the face of death, knowing that You are the source of eternal life. Grant them the assurance of a glorious resurrection and an eternity spent in Your loving presence.

    8. Revelation 21:4

He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain any more, for the former things have passed away.”

Lord, as Revelation 21:4 promises, may this dying soul find solace in the knowledge that all tears will be wiped away and that there will be no more sorrow, pain, or suffering in Your eternal kingdom.

Grant them a glimpse of that heavenly glory and a peaceful departure from this world.

    9. Psalm 23:4

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Lord, as Psalm 23:4 assures us, may this dying soul walk through the valley of the shadow of death without fear, knowing that You are with them every step of the way.

    12. Romans 5:1

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Lord, as Romans 5:1 declares, may this dying soul experience the profound peace that comes from being justified by faith in Jesus Christ.

May they know the assurance of Your forgiveness and the joy of reconciliation with You. Grant them a peaceful and joyful departure from this world.

    13. 1 Peter 1:3-5

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Lord, as 1 Peter 1:3-5 reminds us, may this dying soul find comfort in the living hope of the resurrection.

Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

Lord, as Colossians 3:1-4 teaches, may this dying soul set their minds on things above, on the eternal realities of heaven. May they find comfort in the knowledge that their true life is hidden with Christ in God.

Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”

Lord, as Hebrews 13:5-6 assures us, may this dying soul find comfort in Your unwavering presence. May they know that You will never leave them nor forsake them, even in the face of death.

    21. Ephesians 2:8-9

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
