30 Prayer for Healing in the Bible With Scriptures to Back

Healing shows up on nearly every page of Scripture, from God’s very first self-introduction as “the Lord who heals you” in Exodus, all the way through Revelation’s tree whose leaves are “for the healing of the nations.” It was never a side theme, it runs through the entire story.

These thirty verses trace that thread from Genesis through Revelation, the Old Testament promises and the New Testament fulfillment together.

Pray these as a walk through the whole story, not just a single request.

Prayer for Healing in the Bible

1. Exodus 15:26 (KJV)

“And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.”

Prayer: You introduced Yourself as the Lord who heals. Let that be Your name over me today.

Let this ancient introduction still mean something specific to my situation.

2. Genesis 20:17 (KJV)

“So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bare children.”

Prayer: You heard Abraham’s prayer and healed Abimelech’s household. Hear mine the same way.

Let prayer on behalf of others be part of how healing happens, then and now.

3. Numbers 21:8-9 (KJV)

“And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live. And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.”

Prayer: Let looking to You be enough, the way looking at the bronze serpent was enough for Israel.

Let one honest look toward You do more than all my worrying has.

4. 2 Kings 20:5 (KJV)

“Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the LORD.”

Prayer: You heard Hezekiah’s prayer and saw his tears, and healed him. Hear mine and see these tears too.

Let tears be something You respond to, not something I hide.

5. Psalms 103:2-3 (KJV)

“Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;”

Prayer: You forgive all my sins and heal all my diseases. Let healing follow forgiveness the way this verse promises.

Let both happen together, not just one without the other.

6. Jeremiah 17:14 (KJV)

“Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise.”

Prayer: Heal me, Lord, and I shall be healed, save me, and I shall be saved, for You are my praise.

Let praise come before the healing shows up, not just after.

7. Isaiah 53:5 (KJV)

“But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”

Prayer: By Your wounds I am healed, the prophecy Isaiah wrote long before it happened.

Let this ancient promise become present, physical relief today.

8. Malachi 4:2 (KJV)

“But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.”

Prayer: Rise with healing in Your wings, like the sun breaking over a dark night.

Let healing arrive like morning light, unmistakable.

9. Matthew 4:23 (KJV)

“And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.”

Prayer: You went through the towns healing every disease and sickness among the people. Let this house count too.

Let no illness be too small or too big to bring to You.

10. Matthew 8:16-17 (KJV)

“When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.”

Prayer: You healed all who were sick, carrying our infirmities Yourself.

Let this ancient healing reach into today’s need.

11. Mark 1:40-42 (KJV)

“And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean. And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed.”

Prayer: If You are willing, You can make this clean, make this whole. I believe You’re willing.

Let willingness be met with faith that doesn’t waver.

12. Luke 4:40 (KJV)

“Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.”

Prayer: You laid hands on each one and healed them, not just the crowd in general, but each person specifically.

Let this healing be personal, not generic.

13. John 5:8-9 (KJV)

“Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk. And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.”

Prayer: Get up, take up your mat, and walk. Let that same word be spoken over me today.

Let obedience follow the moment I sense You’ve spoken.

14. Acts 3:6-8 (KJV)

“Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.”

Prayer: In the name of Jesus, let what was broken get up and walk again.

Let this healing carry the same authority it did at that temple gate.

15. Acts 9:17-18 (KJV)

“And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost. And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized.”

Prayer: Let scales fall from whatever’s blinding me, the way they fell from Saul’s eyes.

Let clarity come as suddenly as it did for him.

16. Acts 28:8 (KJV)

“And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him.”

Prayer: Paul prayed, placed his hands, and healed him. Let that same simple faith work today.

Let ordinary prayer still carry extraordinary power.

17. James 5:14-16 (KJV)

“Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”

Prayer: Let the prayer offered in faith raise up whoever is sick, and let You forgive whatever needs forgiving alongside it.

Let the whole community’s prayer, not just my own, carry weight here.

18. 1 Peter 2:24 (KJV)

“Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.”

Prayer: By Your wounds I have been healed, already accomplished. Let that reality show up physically.

Let what’s already true in the spirit become visible in the body.

19. Psalms 30:2 (KJV)

“O LORD my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me.”

Prayer: I called to You for help, and You healed me. Let that be true again, right now.

Let the calling out and the healing happen close together this time.

20. Psalms 107:20 (KJV)

“He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.”

Prayer: You sent Your word and healed them, rescued them from the grave. Send that word here too.

Let Your word carry the same weight it always has, across every century.

21. Jeremiah 30:17 (KJV)

“For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the LORD; because they called thee an Outcast, saying, This is Zion, whom no man seeketh after.”

Prayer: You promise to restore health and heal wounds. Do that fully, not partway.

Let restoration reach every part this trouble has touched.

22. Psalms 147:3 (KJV)

“He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.”

Prayer: Heal my broken heart and bind up this wound, however long that healing takes.

Let healing not be rushed, but let it still be real.

23. Deuteronomy 32:39 (KJV)

“See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.”

Prayer: You wound and You heal, there is no god besides You, no one who can deliver from Your hand.

Let me trust Your hand even in what I don’t fully understand.

24. Psalms 6:2 (KJV)

“Have mercy upon me, O LORD; for I am weak: O LORD, heal me; for my bones are vexed.”

Prayer: Heal me, Lord, my bones are in agony. Let You be moved by this honest cry.

Let honesty about the pain come before I try to sound braver than I feel.

25. Isaiah 57:18-19 (KJV)

“I have seen his ways, and will heal him: I will lead him also, and restore comforts unto him and to his mourners. I create the fruit of the lips; Peace, peace to him that is far off, and to him that is near, saith the LORD; and I will heal him.”

Prayer: Guide me and restore comfort to me, creating praise instead of worry.

Let comfort lead all the way to genuine praise.

26. 3 John 1:2 (KJV)

“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”

Prayer: You wish above all things that I would prosper and be in health, the same wish carried through this whole book.

Let this old blessing become true here, in this body, today.

27. Matthew 15:30-31 (KJV)

“And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus’ feet; and he healed them: Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.”

Prayer: You healed the lame, the blind, the mute, in front of a whole crowd. Let this healing be just as undeniable.

Let what You do here be plain enough that others notice too.

28. Luke 13:12-13 (KJV)

“And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.”

Prayer: Let me be set free from whatever’s kept me bent over, the way You freed her after eighteen years.

Let freedom come, even after a long time waiting for it.

29. Revelation 22:2 (KJV)

“In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.”

Prayer: The leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. Let that healing reach this one specific need too.

Let this promise for the whole world land on this one situation.

30. Revelation 21:4 (KJV)

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”

Prayer: One day You will wipe away every tear, and there will be no more pain. Let that future truth steady me today.

Let hope for that day carry me through this one.

Conclusion

From a fugitive people in the wilderness to a vision of a tree whose leaves heal every nation, the same thread runs the whole way through: God who heals didn’t stop being who He is somewhere in the middle of the story.

Whatever chapter of Scripture speaks loudest to your specific need, start there and let the rest fill in around it.

For the version of this that’s about one specific miracle account, a miracle healing prayer for the sick goes deeper into that side alone.
