30 Prayer for Students With Scriptures to Back

Daniel and his three friends were taken from everything familiar and placed into an intense, foreign course of study. Scripture doesn’t credit their success to natural talent alone: “God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom.”

These thirty verses are for students at any stage, learning itself, exams, decisions about the future, all of it prayed over specifically.

Pray these regularly through a term, not just the night before a big test.

Prayer for Students

1. Daniel 1:17 (KJV)

“As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.”

Prayer: Give me knowledge and skill in all I’m learning, the way You gave it to Daniel and his friends.

Let learning come easier than it would on my own effort alone.

2. Proverbs 1:5 (KJV)

“A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:”

Prayer: Let me listen and add to my learning, and gain guidance as I study.

Let me stay teachable, not think I already know enough.

3. Proverbs 2:6 (KJV)

“For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.”

Prayer: You give wisdom, from Your mouth comes knowledge and understanding.

Let understanding come from You, not just from memorizing facts.

4. Proverbs 9:9 (KJV)

“Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.”

Prayer: Let me be wise enough to keep learning, and let instruction add to what I already know.

Let me welcome correction instead of resisting it.

5. Proverbs 3:13-14 (KJV)

“Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.”

Prayer: Blessed am I when I find wisdom and gain understanding, more valuable than silver or gold.

Let me value understanding over just getting by.

6. James 1:5 (KJV)

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”

Prayer: I lack wisdom in this subject, give it to me generously, without finding fault.

Let asking for help feel normal, not embarrassing.

7. Psalms 119:99 (KJV)

“I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation.”

Prayer: Let me have more insight than my teachers, as I meditate on Your statutes.

Let Your truth shape how I think, not just what I memorize.

8. Psalms 119:130 (KJV)

“The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.”

Prayer: The unfolding of Your words gives light, it gives understanding to the simple.

Let clarity come even on subjects that currently feel confusing.

9. Proverbs 4:7 (KJV)

“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.”

Prayer: Wisdom is supreme, so let me get wisdom, and with everything I get, let me get understanding.

Let understanding matter more to me than just passing.

10. 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV)

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

Prayer: Let me study to show myself approved, a worker who doesn’t need to be ashamed.

Let diligence now save me from regret later.

11. Colossians 3:23 (KJV)

“And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;”

Prayer: Whatever I study, let me work at it with all my heart, as for You, not just for a grade.

Let purpose show up even in ordinary assignments.

12. Philippians 4:13 (KJV)

“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”

Prayer: I can do this, including this hard subject, through Christ who strengthens me.

Let strength cover exactly what this workload requires.

13. Proverbs 16:3 (KJV)

“Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.”

Prayer: Let me commit my studies to You, and let my plans succeed.

Let this season of learning actually go somewhere good.

14. Isaiah 40:29-31 (KJV)

“He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”

Prayer: You give strength to the weary. Meet me exactly there during late nights and hard weeks.

Let renewed strength arrive right when the old kind runs out.

15. Philippians 4:6-7 (KJV)

“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Prayer: Let me bring exam stress and deadlines to You instead of carrying them alone.

Let peace replace panic before a big test or deadline.

16. Psalms 32:8 (KJV)

“I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.”

Prayer: Instruct me and teach me the way I should go, counsel me and watch over me.

Let this include decisions about my studies and my future.

17. Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV)

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

Prayer: Let me trust in You with all my heart, not leaning only on my own understanding.

Let You make my path straight, even through hard classes.

18. 1 Corinthians 1:30 (KJV)

“But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:”

Prayer: Christ has become wisdom for me from You. Let that wisdom show up in my studies too.

Let this wisdom be a gift, not just something I have to earn.

19. Proverbs 18:15 (KJV)

“The heart of the prudent getteth knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge.”

Prayer: Let my heart be discerning and acquire knowledge, let my ears seek it out.

Let curiosity, not just obligation, drive my learning.

20. Proverbs 24:5 (KJV)

“A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.”

Prayer: A wise person has great power, and knowledge strengthens them.

Let this strength show up when I need it most, in the moment of a test.

21. Ecclesiastes 7:12 (KJV)

“For wisdom is a defence, and money is a defence: but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it.”

Prayer: Wisdom is a shelter, and knowledge preserves the life of the one who has it.

Let what I’m learning actually protect and serve me later.

22. Psalms 25:4-5 (KJV)

“Shew me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.”

Prayer: Show me Your ways, teach me Your paths, guide me in Your truth.

Let guidance cover both my studies and the choices ahead of me.

23. Psalms 90:12 (KJV)

Let this season of studying be lived with real intention.

24. Deuteronomy 6:6-7 (KJV)

“And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.”

Prayer: Let Your words be on my heart, impressed on me in everyday moments, not just formal lessons.

Let Your truth shape ordinary days, not just Sunday.

25. Proverbs 22:6 (KJV)

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

Let good habits formed now hold up long after school ends.

26. Luke 2:52 (KJV)

Let discernment be part of what this education actually builds in me.

28. James 3:17 (KJV)

Let what I learn make me a better person, not just a smarter one.

29. Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV)

Let this season of study be part of that good plan.

30. Numbers 6:24-26 (KJV)

“The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.”

Prayer: Bless me and keep me, make Your face shine on me, and give me peace through this term.

Let this old blessing cover every class, every test, every deadline.

Conclusion

Daniel and his friends weren’t naturally more gifted than everyone else at that royal court. Scripture is specific: God gave them what they needed for the work in front of them. That’s still available for whatever’s currently on your desk.

Pray a few of these before you sit down to study, not just before a test.

For a specific exam coming up, a prayer for an exam, and for wisdom more broadly, a prayer for wisdom are both worth praying alongside this one.
