30 Prayer for Home With Scriptures to Back

“As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord,” Joshua told the whole nation, drawing a line that started with his own home before it asked anything of anyone else. A home, in Scripture, is never just a building. It’s a decision, made and remade.

These thirty verses are for that same decision over your own home, its atmosphere, its safety, and who it actually belongs to.

Pray these room by room if it helps, letting each one settle over a different part of your home.

Prayer for Home

1. Joshua 24:15 (KJV)

“And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”

Prayer: As for me and my household, let us serve You.

Let this be the settled decision over this home, not just a slogan.

2. Psalms 127:1 (KJV)

“Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.”

Prayer: Unless You build this house, whoever builds it labors in vain.

Let this home be built on You, not just on effort.

3. Proverbs 24:3-4 (KJV)

“Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established: And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.”

Prayer: Let this house be built through wisdom, established through understanding.

Let wisdom, not just habit, shape how this home runs.

4. Deuteronomy 6:6-9 (KJV)

“And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.”

Prayer: Let Your words be on our hearts, talked about at home and impressed on our doorframes.

Let Your presence be woven into ordinary conversations here, not just special occasions.

5. Psalms 91:9-10 (KJV)

“Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.”

Prayer: Because we’ve made You our refuge, let no harm come near us, no disaster near our dwelling.

Let this home genuinely be a refuge, not just a structure.

6. Psalms 121:8 (KJV)

“The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.”

Prayer: Watch over our coming and going, from this home, now and forevermore.

Let watching cover us leaving and returning here every day.

7. Proverbs 14:1 (KJV)

“Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.”

Prayer: Let wisdom build up this home, not tear it down.

Let every decision here add to this home, not chip away at it.

8. Psalms 128:1-4 (KJV)

“Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD; that walketh in his ways. For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee. Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round about thy table. Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the LORD.”

Prayer: Blessed is this household because we fear You, let us see the fruit of that here.

Let blessing be visible in the ordinary life of this home.

9. Exodus 12:7 (KJV)

“And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.”

Prayer: Cover this home the way the blood covered the doorframes, marked and protected.

Let this home be unmistakably marked as Yours.

10. Psalms 112:1-3 (KJV)

“Praise ye the LORD. Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD, that delighteth greatly in his commandments. His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed. Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever.”

Prayer: Blessed are those who fear You, let wealth and riches be in this house.

Let this home be marked by real, lasting blessing.

11. Proverbs 3:33 (KJV)

“The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just.”

Prayer: Let Your blessing rest on this home, the home of the righteous.

Let blessing, not curse, be what this home carries.

12. Isaiah 32:18 (KJV)

“And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places;”

Prayer: Let my people dwell in peaceful places, in secure homes, undisturbed.

Let peace and security both be true here, not just one without the other.

13. Deuteronomy 28:8 (KJV)

“The LORD shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.”

Prayer: Command Your blessing on our barns and on everything we put our hands to in this home.

Let blessing follow the ordinary work done here.

14. Psalms 84:3-4 (KJV)

“Yea, the sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even thine altars, O LORD of hosts, my King, and my God. Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee. Selah.”

Prayer: Even the sparrow finds a home near You. Let this home be near You too.

Let nearness to You be what actually makes this a home.

15. 1 Timothy 3:4-5 (KJV)

“One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)”

Prayer: Let this home be managed well, with everyone treated with proper respect.

Let respect be the ordinary tone here, not just the exception.

16. Colossians 3:15 (KJV)

“And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.”

Prayer: Let the peace of Christ rule in this home.

Let peace be what settles disagreements here, not just silence.

17. Acts 16:31 (KJV)

“And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.”

Prayer: Let belief in You be true for me, and for my whole household.

Let faith take root in every person who lives under this roof.

18. Proverbs 15:6 (KJV)

“In the house of the righteous is much treasure: but in the revenues of the wicked is trouble.”

Prayer: Let this home be a great treasure, the way You describe the house of the righteous.

Let this home’s real wealth be measured by more than money.

19. Psalms 101:2 (KJV)

“I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.”

Prayer: Let me walk with integrity of heart within my house.

Let who I am at home match who I am everywhere else.

20. Joshua 1:9 (KJV)

“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”

Prayer: Let us be strong and courageous in this home, not afraid or discouraged.

Let courage, not fear, be the atmosphere here.

21. Isaiah 54:13 (KJV)

“And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children.”

Prayer: Let all our children be taught by You, and let them have great peace.

Let peace be what this home actually teaches, not just talks about.

22. Psalms 133:1 (KJV)

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!”

Prayer: How good and pleasant it is when we live together in unity.

Let unity be real here, not just the absence of open conflict.

23. Proverbs 24:27 (KJV)

“Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house.”

Prayer: Let our outside work be finished, and this house ready afterward.

Let this home get real attention, not just leftover time and energy.

24. Malachi 3:10 (KJV)

“Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.”

Prayer: Test me in this, and open the floodgates of heaven over this home.

Let generosity from this home open the door to real blessing.

25. Deuteronomy 11:19-21 (KJV)

“And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt write them upon the door posts of thine house, and upon thy gates: That your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers to give them, as the days of heaven upon the earth.”

Prayer: Let us teach these things to our children, talking about them at home and away.

Let faith be part of ordinary conversation here, not a separate topic.

26. Ephesians 2:19-20 (KJV)

“Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;”

Prayer: Let us be members of Your household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets.

Let this earthly home reflect that larger household we already belong to.

27. Psalms 122:7 (KJV)

“Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces.”

Prayer: Let there be peace within these walls, and security within this home.

Let both peace and security be tangible here, not just hoped for.

28. Genesis 28:16-17 (KJV)

“And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew it not. And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.”

Prayer: Let me realize, surely You are in this place, this home is Your house too.

Let awareness of Your presence be ordinary here, not rare.

29. Psalms 91:1 (KJV)

“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”

Prayer: Let whoever lives in this home dwell in Your shelter, resting in Your shadow.

Let this home feel like shelter to everyone who lives here.

30. Numbers 6:24-26 (KJV)

“The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.”

Prayer: Bless this home and keep it, make Your face shine on it, and give it peace.

Let this old blessing cover every room and every person in it.

Conclusion

Joshua didn’t wait for the rest of the nation to decide first. He started with his own household, out loud, before asking anything of anyone else. A home’s direction usually starts exactly there, with one clear decision, made and then lived out daily.

Say this decision out loud in your home today, not just silently.

For a home that needs a spiritual reset, a prayer for house cleansing, and for moving into a new one, a prayer for a new house are both worth praying alongside this one.
