30 Prayer For Abuse Victims With Scriptures to Back

By Pst. Williams ChurchillOctober 21, 2025

A prayer for abuse victims is not merely a cry for help but a plea for restoration, justice, and courage to live again. God listens to the wounded heart, and His love becomes the balm that renews hope and self-worth.

These prayers are written to comfort the broken, empower the fearful, and restore faith in God’s unfailing presence and healing power.

    Prayer For Abuse Victims

    1. Psalm 34:18 (ESV)

The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.

Lord, I bring before You all who are wounded by abuse—emotionally, physically, or mentally. Be near to them in their pain. Heal their broken hearts and restore their crushed spirits with Your tender mercy.

This verse reminds us that God’s presence is most powerful in our weakest moments. He does not ignore the pain of those who have been abused but draws close to comfort and rescue them.

For victims, healing begins in the awareness that they are not alone. God stands beside them as a compassionate defender, turning wounds into testimonies of strength and faith.

    2. Isaiah 61:1 (ESV)

He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound.

Lord Jesus, You came to heal those who have been shattered by life’s cruelty. Bind the wounds of those who suffer from abuse and set them free from the prison of fear, shame, and guilt.

This verse proclaims Christ’s mission of liberation. Abuse enslaves the soul in silence and fear, but Jesus proclaims freedom to all who believe in His healing power. He is not indifferent to pain; He enters it and redeems it.

When we turn our pain over to Him, chains of fear begin to break. The Spirit restores dignity and courage, proving that no past is beyond God’s power to heal.

    3. Psalm 147:3 (ESV)

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

Compassionate Father, touch the hearts of those who are broken by abuse. Bind up their wounds and replace their pain with Your peace. Let Your love become the balm that restores their joy.

This verse captures God’s role as the Great Healer. He does not merely comfort the wounded; He binds their hurts with His presence and begins a process of divine restoration.

Healing is not instant but certain in His hands. When victims entrust their scars to God, He transforms the pain into a story of strength and renewal.

    4. Romans 8:28 (ESV)

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

Lord, even in the aftermath of abuse, help victims believe that You can bring beauty from ashes. Work through their pain to create something good and purposeful. Let Your promise of redemption shine in their lives.

This verse assures us that God wastes no pain. Even suffering can become the soil for healing, growth, and renewed strength. For victims of abuse, this truth brings comfort and hope that restoration is possible.

Through faith, the most broken stories can be rewritten into testimonies of grace. God’s power turns despair into destiny, showing that even deep wounds can lead to divine purpose.

    5. Psalm 9:9 (ESV)

The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.

Lord, be a refuge to those who have endured oppression and cruelty. Shelter them under Your wings and defend them from every voice of fear. Let them find peace and safety in Your embrace.

This verse reveals God as a defender of the oppressed. He offers refuge when the world has failed to protect. For those who have been abused, His presence is a fortress where healing begins.

Trusting God as a stronghold means resting in His justice and mercy. He does not forget the cries of the oppressed but promises to lift them up and restore what was taken.

    6. 2 Corinthians 1:3–4 (ESV)

Blessed be the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction.

Father of compassion, comfort those who carry the scars of abuse. Surround them with Your love and fill them with peace that surpasses understanding. Use their healing to bring comfort to others.

This verse teaches that God comforts us not only for ourselves but so that we may comfort others. Out of deep pain, a ministry of empathy and strength can rise.

As victims heal, they become vessels of grace for others. God’s comfort flows through them, turning suffering into a source of restoration for many.

    7. Psalm 23:4 (ESV)

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me.

Lord, walk beside every abuse survivor who feels trapped in darkness. Remind them that Your presence is their constant companion and their comfort in every shadow. Replace fear with courage and despair with hope.

This verse shows that even in the darkest valleys, God’s light never fades. His rod and staff represent protection and guidance, reminding victims that they are not abandoned.

When fear threatens to consume, His presence brings courage. The journey toward healing becomes lighter when one knows the Shepherd walks close beside them.

    8. Matthew 11:28 (ESV)

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Lord, draw every weary heart to You. Let those burdened by the trauma of abuse find rest in Your arms. Replace their sleepless nights with peace that only You can give.

This verse is an open invitation to find rest in Christ. Abuse leaves invisible wounds that tire the soul, but Jesus offers comfort beyond understanding.

Restoration begins when we surrender our pain to Him. In His presence, exhaustion turns into renewal, and despair is exchanged for divine rest.

    9. Nahum 1:7 (ESV)

The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; he knows those who take refuge in him.

Lord, remind every abuse victim that You know their name and their pain. Be their fortress in times of fear and their peace in moments of anxiety. Let them find security in Your goodness.

This verse affirms that God’s goodness is a safe haven. When trouble surrounds, His care becomes a shield for those who trust Him. He knows each wounded heart personally and guards it faithfully.

To take refuge in God is to rest in His justice and His love. In His hands, no pain is overlooked and no cry is unheard.

    10. Jeremiah 30:17 (ESV)

For I will restore health to you, and your wounds I will heal, declares the Lord.

Lord, heal the deep wounds of those who have suffered abuse. Restore their bodies, minds, and spirits. Let them rise from pain into peace through Your unfailing love.

This verse carries a promise of divine healing. Abuse leaves visible and invisible scars, but God promises to restore what has been broken. His healing reaches the soul’s deepest places.

Restoration may take time, but it is sure. God’s power transforms victims into survivors and survivors into overcomers, rewriting pain into victory.

    11. Psalm 46:1 (ESV)

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Lord, You are the unshakable refuge for those in pain. Be the strength of every abuse victim who feels weak and afraid. Let Your presence surround them with safety and peace.

This verse declares God’s role as both refuge and strength. For those scarred by abuse, He offers security when everything else feels unsafe. His presence becomes the shield that no fear can penetrate.

True healing begins when we realize we are never alone. In every moment of trouble, God stands ready to defend, comfort, and restore His children.

    12. Psalm 55:22 (ESV)

Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.

Lord, teach every survivor to lay their burdens at Your feet. Lift the weight of trauma and sorrow from their hearts. Sustain them with Your peace and steady their steps in faith.

This verse invites us to release our pain into God’s care. Abuse often leaves victims carrying unbearable emotional loads, but God promises to sustain those who trust Him.

When we surrender our pain, we make room for His healing strength. He steadies us when we feel like falling and ensures that no storm can uproot our faith.

    13. Isaiah 43:2 (ESV)

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you.

Lord, be with every abuse survivor walking through the deep waters of trauma. Keep them from being overwhelmed and remind them that Your hand upholds them in every trial.

This verse reassures us that God does not abandon His children in hardship. Even in moments that feel suffocating, His presence protects and strengthens us to keep moving forward.

God’s promise is not the absence of trials but His presence in them. With Him beside us, even the deepest waters cannot drown our hope.

    14. Matthew 5:4 (ESV)

Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

Lord, comfort those who grieve the loss of innocence, peace, or safety. Wrap them in Your embrace and let them know that their tears are not forgotten. Replace mourning with healing joy.

This verse shows that God treasures the tears of the brokenhearted. Every victim’s grief is sacred before Him, and He promises comfort that restores the spirit.

In God’s time, sorrow gives birth to strength. Those who mourn in His presence will rise again, clothed in the comfort of divine love.

    15. Psalm 27:1 (ESV)

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?

Lord, shine Your light into every dark corner of trauma. Chase away the shadows of fear and remind every victim that Your salvation is their strength. Let courage rise where fear once ruled.

This verse reminds us that God’s light dispels every darkness. For abuse victims, fear often lingers, but His presence brings confidence and calm.

Fear loses power when faith takes its place. God’s light exposes every lie of shame and empowers the heart to live freely again.

    16. Revelation 21:4 (ESV)

He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more.

Lord, wipe away the tears of every heart wounded by abuse. Let them taste Your eternal comfort even now. Heal their pain and give them peace that surpasses human understanding.

This verse points us toward a future where pain and sorrow will cease. But even today, God begins that restoration in every believer’s heart.

He replaces despair with hope and sorrow with joy. Each tear that falls is noticed by Him and exchanged for His divine comfort.

    17. Zephaniah 3:17 (ESV)

The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness.

Lord, remind every abuse survivor that You rejoice over them with love. Let them hear Your song of comfort and know that they are precious in Your sight.

This verse paints a picture of a God who celebrates His children, even the wounded ones. He does not look at them with pity but with joy and pride.

God’s joy becomes the melody of restoration. In His presence, victims find worth again and rediscover the beauty of being deeply loved.

    18. Psalm 31:24 (ESV)

Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the Lord!

Lord, strengthen the hearts of those still waiting for healing. Give them courage to believe that recovery is possible and hope that never fades away.

This verse encourages those who feel weary from the journey of healing. Courage grows not from immediate relief but from trusting God’s timing and faithfulness.

Each moment of waiting is a seed of strength. In patience, God builds resilience and prepares the heart for restoration.

    19. Isaiah 40:31 (ESV)

But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles.

Lord, renew the strength of those who feel weak from years of pain. Lift them up on wings of hope and help them soar above the memories that once chained them.

This verse promises renewal to those who patiently trust God. Abuse may break the spirit, but God restores what was lost and gives new strength to rise again.

Waiting in faith transforms weakness into power. Those who hope in God learn to fly where they once could only crawl.

    20. Psalm 3:3 (ESV)

But you, O Lord, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head.

Lord, be the shield that protects the wounded from further harm. Lift their heads high and restore their dignity. Let Your glory shine where shame once lingered.

This verse is a reminder that God not only defends but also restores. Abuse often steals confidence, yet God lifts the head of every wounded soul with His love.

When He lifts our head, He replaces humiliation with honor. His protection becomes a banner of strength over our lives.

    21. 1 Peter 5:10 (ESV)

And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.

Lord, bring restoration to every victim of abuse. Let Your grace confirm their worth, strengthen their hearts, and establish them in Your love forever.

This verse is a promise of divine restoration after suffering. God Himself takes responsibility for rebuilding what pain has destroyed.

When the process is complete, the survivor stands not as broken but as beautifully renewed—proof of God’s enduring grace.

    22. Psalm 18:2 (ESV)

The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer.

Lord, be the rock that cannot be shaken. Be the fortress that guards those who have endured abuse and deliver them from every lingering fear and memory.

As survivors cling to Him, they find stability and safety. Their faith becomes unmovable because it rests on the Rock of salvation.

    23. Isaiah 12:2 (ESV)

Lord, replace fear with trust in Your salvation. Let every heart that trembles find calm in Your promises and strength in Your name.

This verse invites us to trust in God completely. Fear cannot thrive where faith is alive. For the abused, this trust brings peace in place of panic.

God’s salvation becomes an anchor for the soul. With every act of faith, fear fades and courage grows stronger.

    24. Psalm 30:11 (ESV)

You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; you have loosed my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness.

Lord, turn the mourning of every victim into joy. Replace their sorrow with dancing and clothe them with gladness that flows from Your Spirit.

This verse celebrates God’s power to reverse sorrow. Abuse may bring years of pain, but God’s joy has the final word.

When He restores, He does so completely—transforming deep sadness into radiant peace.

    25. John 14:27 (ESV)

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

Lord Jesus, fill the hearts of the wounded with Your peace. Let Your calmness silence every anxious thought and restore harmony to their spirits.

This verse reveals that Christ’s peace is unlike any the world can offer. It is a deep, abiding calm that protects the heart from fear.

When His peace enters, every inner storm begins to settle. Healing begins to flow where anxiety once ruled.

    26. Psalm 91:4 (ESV)

He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge.

Lord, cover every abuse survivor with Your protective wings. Hide them in Your care and remind them they are safe in Your love.

In His refuge, no past trauma can define us. His wings symbolize love that restores confidence and safety to the soul.

    27. Isaiah 49:16 (ESV)

Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands.

Lord, remind every broken soul that they are never forgotten. Let them know that their names are forever written in Your hands of love.

For abuse victims, this assurance restores worth and belonging. They are forever seen, remembered, and cherished by God.

    28. Psalm 40:1–2 (ESV)

I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and heard my cry.

Lord, hear the cries of the abused and answer with Your mercy. Lift them from the pit of despair and set their feet on solid ground.

In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.

Lord, strengthen those who feel defeated by the weight of their trauma. Remind them that You have overcome every evil, and through You, victory is possible.

This verse acknowledges pain yet promises triumph. Jesus overcame the darkness of this world so His children could walk in freedom.

Abuse does not have the final say—Christ does. In Him, every victim becomes a victor through faith and endurance.

    30. Revelation 7:17 (ESV)
