30 St. Francis De Sales Prayer For Hearing With Scriptures to Back

By Pst. Williams ChurchillOctober 23, 2025

This prayer, inspired by St. Francis de Sales’ gentleness and devotion, seeks God’s healing and grace for those who struggle with hearing loss or wish to listen more attentively to His divine will.

It is a plea for both physical and spiritual restoration, that the ears of the body and the soul may be opened to truth, love, and peace.

St. Francis De Sales Prayer For Hearing

    1. Isaiah 35:5 (ESV)

    Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf unstopped;

Lord, just as You promised through the prophet Isaiah, open the ears of those who long to hear clearly again. Restore hearing to those in silence and renew their joy through sound and connection.

This verse declares God’s power to heal the senses and renew what was lost. It is not merely a promise of physical healing but also a revelation of His ability to awaken our spiritual perception.

May every heart that feels disconnected or unheard experience divine restoration and the joy of being fully present again.

    2. Mark 7:34–35 (ESV)

And looking up to heaven, he sighed and said to him, “Ephphatha,” that is, “Be opened.” And his ears were opened, his tongue was released, and he spoke plainly.

Lord Jesus, as You once spoke “Ephphatha” to the deaf man, speak the same word over us. Open our ears to Your voice, our hearts to Your truth, and our tongues to praise Your name.

This miracle reveals that Jesus not only heals but also restores full communication — between humanity and heaven. When He says “Be opened,” all barriers to divine connection dissolve.

Let Your healing touch reach those who struggle to hear, physically or spiritually, and renew their ability to listen and speak with clarity.

    3. Romans 10:17 (ESV)

So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

Heavenly Father, help us to listen intently to Your Word. Let hearing be more than sound — let it become the foundation of unshakable faith.

This verse reminds us that the Word of God is the source of spiritual awakening. To hear Christ’s message is to receive faith itself.

Grant that every act of listening draws us closer to You and deepens our trust in Your promises.

    4. Proverbs 2:2 (ESV)

    Making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding;

Lord, teach us to be attentive listeners. Help us tune out the noise of distraction and incline our hearts toward divine wisdom.

This verse ties true hearing to discernment. Listening deeply is not passive — it is the active pursuit of understanding guided by God’s Spirit.

Open our ears, Lord, to hear Your instruction, that we may walk wisely and live peacefully.

    5. Psalm 40:6 (ESV)

In sacrifice and offering you have not delighted, but you have given me an open ear.

Father, open our ears to Your will. Help us understand that true worship lies in obedience, not ritual.

This verse shifts our focus from external devotion to inner attentiveness. God desires hearts that listen and respond in love.

Let every young and old ear be attuned to the sound of Your calling, that we may serve You faithfully.

    6. Matthew 11:15 (ESV)

He who has ears to hear, let him hear.

Lord Jesus, awaken our spiritual hearing. Let us not only hear Your words but truly understand and live by them.

This verse challenges every believer to listen with intention — to hear not just sound but truth.

Give us hearts ready to receive Your message and courage to act upon it.

    7. Psalm 94:9 (ESV)

He who planted the ear, does he not hear? He who formed the eye, does he not see?

Creator God, You made the ear and the eye; nothing escapes Your awareness. Hear the cries of those who long to hear again and comfort them with Your presence.

This verse affirms that the God who created hearing also listens perfectly. It’s a reminder that even when our hearing fades, His attention never does.

Strengthen our faith, Lord, knowing that You understand our every need and unspoken prayer.

    8. James 1:19 (ESV)

    Let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger;

Lord, help us cultivate patience in listening. May our hearing bring understanding and peace rather than judgment or haste.

This verse teaches that hearing is a discipline — one that shapes humility and harmony.

Train our ears, O God, to listen with compassion, grace, and patience in all relationships.

    9. John 10:27 (ESV)

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.

Jesus, let us recognize Your voice above all others. In a noisy world, help us discern the Shepherd’s call and follow You faithfully.

This verse describes the intimacy between Christ and His followers — a bond sustained through attentive listening.

May we never grow deaf to Your guidance but walk each day in step with Your will.

    10. Revelation 3:22 (ESV)

He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

Holy Spirit, open the ears of believers everywhere. Let us hear what You are saying to our generation and obey with courage.

This verse is a call to spiritual sensitivity — a readiness to hear divine instruction in every age.

Awaken our inner hearing so we may discern truth and live as faithful witnesses of Your Word.

    11. Psalm 34:15 (ESV)

The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous and his ears toward their cry.

Lord, You hear the cries of the righteous. Attend to the prayers of those seeking Your healing touch on their hearing.

This verse assures us of God’s active compassion — His listening presence in every pain.

May those suffering from hearing loss feel Your comfort and know that their prayers reach Your throne.

    12. Job 42:5 (ESV)

    I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees you;

Father, deepen our relationship with You. Let what we have heard about You become what we truly experience.

This verse shows that hearing about God is the beginning, but true encounter transforms us.

May every listener move from knowledge to communion — from hearing to seeing You in truth.

    13. Psalm 18:6 (ESV)

In my distress I called upon the Lord; to my God I cried for help. From his temple he heard my voice.

Lord, in our pain and struggle, remind us that You hear every prayer. Let Your response bring healing and reassurance.

This verse comforts the heart that fears being unheard. God listens attentively from His holy temple.

Grant peace to all who cry to You from places of silence and longing.

    14. Exodus 4:11 (ESV)

Then the Lord said to him, “Who has made man’s mouth? Who makes him mute, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Is it not I, the Lord?”

Creator of all, You formed every sense with purpose. We trust that You hold the power to heal or strengthen us according to Your will.

This verse reminds us that every ability and limitation exists under divine sovereignty.

Help us surrender to Your purpose, knowing You work all things for good.

    15. Proverbs 18:15 (ESV)

An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.

Lord, grant us ears that hunger for truth and hearts that discern wisdom.

This verse teaches that hearing well is an act of wisdom — a desire to grow in understanding.

Open our minds to learning and our ears to Your eternal instruction.

    16. Psalm 116:1–2 (ESV)

I love the Lord, because he has heard my voice and my pleas for mercy. Because he inclined his ear to me, therefore I will call on him as long as I live.

Father, thank You for always listening. Let us never forget that You are near when we pray.

This verse overflows with gratitude — the natural response of one who has been heard by God.

Teach us to live in continual prayer and thanksgiving for Your faithfulness.

    17. Matthew 13:16 (ESV)

But blessed are your eyes, for they see, and your ears, for they hear.

Lord, bless those who are open to Your truth. Let spiritual hearing lead to transformation and deeper understanding.

This verse celebrates divine revelation — that to truly hear is to receive the kingdom within.

May our hearing always lead to obedience and faith.

    18. Psalm 130:2 (ESV)

Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my pleas for mercy!

Merciful Lord, turn Your ear toward us. Hear the prayers of those crying out for healing and hope.

This verse expresses the deep humility of a soul depending on God’s compassion.

May we never doubt Your attentiveness or the power of Your mercy.

    19. Deuteronomy 29:4 (ESV)

But to this day the Lord has not given you a heart to understand or eyes to see or ears to hear.

Father, remove every barrier to spiritual understanding. Grant us hearts and ears that perceive Your truth.

This verse reminds us that hearing is a gift of grace, not human achievement.

Open our senses to Your revelation and renew us in spirit and truth.

    20. Psalm 31:2 (ESV)

Incline your ear to me; rescue me speedily!

Lord, incline Your ear and answer swiftly. Let those in pain or silence feel Your rescuing love.

This verse is both a cry and a confession — that God hears and delivers in His perfect timing.

Rescue every ear longing to hear again, both physically and spiritually.

    21. Romans 10:17 (ESV)

So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

Lord, let the power of Your Word open my ears to truth and understanding. Grant that I may hear clearly both in spirit and in body, drawing ever closer to Your divine message.

This verse reminds us that faith begins with the ability to hear the Word of God. It reveals that our capacity to listen is not merely physical but deeply spiritual — it is how belief takes root in our hearts. Hearing becomes the foundation of trust and obedience.

St. Francis de Sales teaches that hearing, both physical and spiritual, is a sacred gift that allows us to receive divine instruction. We pray for restored hearing, not only of the ears but of the heart, that our faith may be strengthened daily and our souls attuned to God’s whispers.

    22. Proverbs 20:12 (ESV)

The hearing ear and the seeing eye, the Lord has made them both.

O Creator of all things, You fashioned my ears and gave me the ability to hear. Restore what has been weakened, Lord, and renew my senses so I may use them to glorify You.

This verse acknowledges that every part of our being — especially our senses — are divine gifts. It reminds us that the power to hear is not random but divinely ordained, part of the wonder of human creation. Each sense connects us to the world and to the voice of God.

St. Francis de Sales encourages us to see our physical abilities as opportunities to praise the Creator. When we experience loss or weakness, it becomes an invitation to trust more deeply in God’s sustaining grace and to allow His healing to renew both body and soul.

    23. Psalm 40:6 (ESV)

In sacrifice and offering you have not delighted, but you have given me an open ear.

Gracious Lord, open my ears to Your calling. May I hear Your will clearly and walk in obedience, finding joy in serving You above all else.

This verse emphasizes that God values our willingness to listen more than ritual offerings. True worship is born in the heart that hears and obeys, not in empty gestures or words. Listening becomes an act of deep love.

St. Francis de Sales viewed spiritual hearing as the soul’s greatest connection to God’s plan. By asking for “an open ear,” we seek to align our lives with divine wisdom and humility, letting God’s voice guide every action and decision we make.

    24. Mark 7:35 (ESV)

And his ears were opened, his tongue was released, and he spoke plainly.

Jesus, Divine Healer, just as You opened the ears of the deaf man, touch me now with Your healing power. Restore my hearing and let my words give praise to You.

This verse recounts one of Christ’s miracles, showing His compassion for physical suffering. It reveals the wholeness of God’s healing — how hearing, speech, and understanding are all restored together. The miracle renews both body and spirit.

St. Francis de Sales reflected on this story as a sign of total restoration. It teaches that God’s mercy extends to every weakness and that divine healing is as much about faith as it is about the body.

    25. Isaiah 35:5 (ESV)

Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf unstopped.

Lord, Your promises bring life and hope. I claim this promise today, asking for open ears, renewed faith, and full restoration through Your mercy.

This verse is a vision of divine restoration and joy. It reminds us that God’s kingdom brings renewal to everything broken — sight to the blind, sound to the deaf, and life to the weary. His promise is one of total healing.

St. Francis de Sales believed that when our hearing is restored, our faith deepens, allowing us to perceive the whispers of grace more clearly. To hear God is to experience life in its fullness.

    26. Matthew 11:15 (ESV)

He who has ears to hear, let him hear.

Heavenly Father, grant me spiritual attentiveness. Let my ears discern Your voice amidst the noise of the world, and may I respond with obedience and love.

This verse calls believers to active listening — to hear not only words, but meaning, spirit, and truth. God’s messages are often subtle, requiring quietness of soul to understand them.

St. Francis de Sales urged Christians to cultivate interior silence, where God speaks most clearly. True hearing is not just a sense but a state of heart that listens with reverence and faith.

    27. Psalm 94:9 (ESV)

He who planted the ear, does he not hear? He who formed the eye, does he not see?

Lord, You who gave me ears to hear, hear my prayer for healing. Restore my hearing as a testimony of Your compassion and power.

This verse is a poetic reminder of God’s awareness. The Creator who formed our senses understands every struggle we face. His knowledge is not distant — it is deeply personal.

St. Francis de Sales reminds us that when we turn to God with our pain, we are turning to One who truly understands it. God hears every prayer before it is spoken and answers with love beyond measure.

    28. John 10:27 (ESV)

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.

Jesus, Good Shepherd, let me hear Your voice clearly above all others. Guide my steps, restore my hearing, and keep me close to Your loving care.

This verse reveals the closeness between Christ and His followers. To hear His voice is to be known and loved, guided in safety and peace. Hearing becomes a bond of relationship.

St. Francis de Sales saw this verse as a call to intimacy with God. When we hear Christ’s voice in our hearts, we follow not out of fear but love — the truest form of obedience.

    29. Psalm 119:18 (ESV)

Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law.

Lord, open both my eyes and ears to Your truth. May I perceive Your will clearly and live in harmony with Your commands.

This verse is a prayer for enlightenment and spiritual sensitivity. It asks for divine help to truly perceive God’s Word, not only through sight but through the inner hearing of faith.

St. Francis de Sales often linked hearing and seeing as twin gifts of understanding. When both are open, the believer experiences the fullness of divine revelation.

    30. Revelation 2:7 (ESV)

He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

Holy Spirit, grant me the grace to hear Your voice and understand Your will. Strengthen my hearing, both physical and spiritual, so that I may walk in truth.

This verse is a solemn call to attention — an invitation to spiritual discernment. It reminds us that hearing is not passive; it requires openness and action.

St. Francis de Sales emphasized that true hearing means responding. When we listen to the Spirit, we become instruments of God’s will and partakers in His healing grace.

    Conclusion

Through the gentle intercession of St. Francis de Sales, we lift our hearts to God, the true healer of both body and soul. Each prayer and verse reminds us that hearing is not only a physical ability but a divine pathway through which faith is strengthened and peace restored.

May those who seek healing find it in God’s boundless love. May our ears be opened to His truth, our hearts filled with His peace, and our lives forever tuned to the melody of His grace. Amen.
