John the Baptist told the crowds plainly that his own baptism, water only, wasn’t the whole story. “He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire,” he said, pointing past himself to something he couldn’t give them himself.
These thirty verses are for that same fullness, not just water, but the Spirit’s actual, promised power at work in an ordinary life.
Pray these expecting real change, not just a phrase repeated.
Prayer for Baptism of the Holy Spirit
1. Matthew 3:11 (KJV)
“I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:”
Prayer: Baptize me with Your Holy Spirit, the way John promised only You could do.
Let this be more than water, let it be real power.
2. Acts 1:8 (KJV)
“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”

Let this power be real, not just a phrase I recite.
3. Acts 2:1-4 (KJV)
“And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”
Prayer: Let me be filled with Your Holy Spirit, the way the disciples were, unmistakably.
Let this filling be as real for me as it was for them.
4. Luke 11:13 (KJV)
“If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?”

Let this gift come as freely as this promise describes.
5. John 7:37-39 (KJV)
“In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)”
Prayer: Let rivers of living water flow from within me, the way You promised for those who believe.
Let this flow outward, not just stay contained in me.
6. Acts 2:38 (KJV)
“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”
Prayer: Let me repent, and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, the way Peter described.
Let repentance and receiving happen together, not separately.
7. Acts 19:1-6 (KJV)
“And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John’s baptism. Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.”

Let this guidance be trustworthy enough to actually act on.

For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,”
Prayer: Let Your Holy Spirit come on me while I’m simply listening to Your word, the way it came on that whole household.

Prayer: You promised to pour out Your Spirit on all people, sons and daughters alike.
Let this promise include me specifically, not just people from that first generation.
Conclusion
John pointed past himself on purpose, water alone was never the whole promise. What he pointed toward, real power, real presence, was always meant to actually arrive, not just be talked about.
Ask for this expecting something real to happen, not just repeating a phrase.
For what this power is meant to fuel in you afterward, a prayer for strength and guidance is a good next step.
