A woman had been bleeding for twelve years. She had spent everything she had on doctors and only gotten worse. Then she heard about Jesus, pushed through a crowd, and touched the edge of his cloak, thinking that alone might be enough. It was. She felt in her body that she was healed, and Jesus told her it was her faith that made her well.
These thirty verses are for anyone reaching for that same edge of the cloak, tired of feeling unwell and hoping for something to finally shift.
Pray these with your specific condition or symptom in mind, even if you only whisper it, and let the reaching itself be the prayer.
Prayer for Better Health
1. Mark 5:34 (NIV)
“He said to her, 'Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.'”
Prayer: Let me reach for you the way she did, even in a crowd of doubts.
Free me from the specific suffering I’ve been carrying in my body.
Send me forward in peace, not just relief.
2. Jeremiah 30:17 (NIV)
“'But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds,' declares the Lord.”
Prayer: Restore what illness has worn down in me.
Heal the wounds that don’t show up on any scan.
Let this restoration be complete, not partial.
3. Exodus 15:26 (NIV)
“'I am the Lord, who heals you.'”
Prayer: You are the healer, and I bring my body to you today.
Let this identity of yours be more real to me than my diagnosis.
Do what medicine alone cannot do.
4. Psalm 103:2-3 (NIV)
“Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases.”
Prayer: Remind me not to forget your benefits when I’m focused on symptoms.
Heal the disease along with whatever else needs forgiving.
Let praise rise even before the healing is finished.
5. Isaiah 53:5 (NIV)
“And by his wounds we are healed.”
Prayer: Let his wounds cover mine, physical and otherwise.
Draw healing from what was already accomplished.
Remind me this isn’t something I have to earn.
6. James 5:14-15 (NIV)
“Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well.”
Prayer: Let this prayer, offered in faith, actually make a difference.
Bring the right people around me to pray when I’m too weak to.
Meet the sickness with more than just my own effort.
7. 3 John 1:2 (NIV)
“Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.”
Prayer: Let good health catch up with the state of my soul.
Bring my body and spirit into better alignment.
Let things go well in a way I can actually feel.
8. Psalm 41:3 (NIV)
“The Lord sustains them on their sickbed and restores them from their bed of illness.”
Prayer: Sustain me on the days the illness feels heaviest.
Restore me from this bed, whenever that day comes.
Don’t let me be forgotten in the waiting.
9. Jeremiah 17:14 (NIV)
“Heal me, Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise.”
Prayer: Heal me completely, not just enough to get by.
Save me from the parts of this that scare me most.
Let my praise come before the answer, not just after.
10. Psalm 30:2 (NIV)
“Lord my God, I called to you for help, and you healed me.”
Prayer: I’m calling to you now for the same kind of help.
Heal me the way you healed the psalmist, fully and clearly.
Let this become a testimony I can tell later.
11. Matthew 9:35 (NIV)
“Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness.”

Heal what needs healing, whatever the name of it is.
Let your presence be as active in my body as it was then.
12. Proverbs 4:20-22 (NIV)
“My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to one's whole body.”
Prayer: Let your words settle into my body, not just my mind.
Bring health to places I’ve forgotten to pay attention to.
Turn your promises into something my body can trust.
13. Psalm 107:20 (NIV)

Prayer: Send your word into this diagnosis and change it.
Rescue me from outcomes that feel too heavy to carry.
Let healing be the story I get to tell.
14. 1 Peter 2:24 (NIV)
“He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.”
Prayer: Let his bearing of my burden actually lighten mine.
Heal me through what was already finished, not something new I have to fight for.
Let me live differently because of this healing.
15. Psalm 34:19 (NIV)
“The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all.”
Prayer: Deliver me from this trouble the way you’ve delivered others.
Don’t let the number of my troubles overwhelm your ability to help.
Bring me out on the other side of this.
16. Isaiah 40:29 (NIV)
“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.”
Prayer: Give me strength for days the fatigue feels unbearable.
Increase whatever power I have left to keep going.
Meet my weakness with your strength, not judgment.
17. Psalm 6:2 (NIV)
“Have mercy on me, Lord, for I am faint; heal me, Lord, for my bones are in agony.”
Prayer: Have mercy on me in this pain, Lord.
Heal what’s aching in ways I can barely describe.
Meet my agony with something gentler than I expect.
18. Matthew 4:23 (NIV)
“Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.”
Prayer: Let your healing reach me the way it reached the people of Galilee.
Don’t let my condition be outside what you’re willing to touch.
Move through my life the way you moved through those towns.
19. Psalm 91:16 (NIV)

Show me your salvation in a way I can point to.
20. 2 Kings 20:5 (NIV)
“I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will heal you.”
Prayer: See the tears I’ve cried over this that no one else has seen.
Hear the prayer even when it’s more crying than words.
Heal me the way you healed Hezekiah.
21. Psalm 147:3 (NIV)
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”
Prayer: Heal what’s broken in my heart along with my body.
Bind up the wounds I’ve been walking around with.
Let this healing be thorough, not surface level.
22. Malachi 4:2 (NIV)

Prayer: Let healing rise over me like the sun rising.
Reach the parts of me that feel stuck in shadow.
Let this be a new day for my body.
23. Psalm 116:8 (NIV)
“For you, Lord, have delivered me from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling.”

Dry the tears that come from being tired of being sick.
Steady my feet so I can keep walking forward.
24. James 5:16 (NIV)
“Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.”
Prayer: Bring people into my life who will pray for me consistently.
Let confession and honesty be part of my healing, not just medicine.
Heal me in community, not isolation.
25. Psalm 73:26 (NIV)
“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
Prayer: When my body feels like it’s failing, be my strength.
Let my heart’s real portion be you, not the outcome of a test.
Steady me even when the flesh is weak.
26. Isaiah 58:8 (NIV)
“Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear.”
Prayer: Let my healing appear quickly, not drag out endlessly.
Break through this like dawn breaking over a long night.
Let the light be undeniable when it comes.
27. Psalm 38:3 (NIV)
“Because of your wrath there is no health in my body; there is no soundness in my bones because of my sin.”
Prayer: Search me and show me anything I need to release.
Bring soundness back to my bones, whatever the cause of this ache.
Let repentance, if it’s needed, lead somewhere healing.
28. Luke 8:48 (NIV)
“Then he said to her, 'Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.'”
Prayer: Let my faith, small as it feels some days, still be enough.
Send me forward in peace, not fear about what comes next.
Call me daughter, or son, not just a patient.
29. Psalm 42:11 (NIV)
“Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.”
Prayer: Lift what feels downcast about this whole situation.
Let hope be stronger today than discouragement.
Give me something to praise you for before this is over.
30. Revelation 21:4 (NIV)
“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
Prayer: Give me a glimpse of that promise even now, in this body.
Wipe the tears that come with pain I can’t always explain.
Let hope for that future steady me in the present.
Conclusion
The woman who touched Jesus’ cloak didn’t get a lecture about her twelve years of suffering. She got a name, “daughter,” and a sentence that sent her home in peace. Healing, in that story, wasn’t just physical. It was being seen and spoken to gently.
If you’re praying for someone else’s health rather than your own, the prayer for a sick parent or the prayer for someone in pain might be the better fit today.
And if the wait for answers or test results is its own kind of struggle, pair this list with the prayer for strength to carry you through the in-between.
