30 Prayer For When You Feel Alone With Scriptures to Back

By Pst. Williams ChurchillFebruary 2, 2026

Prayer for when you feel alone invites God’s presence into the empty spaces, asking Him to fill the void with His companionship.

These prayers for loneliness acknowledge that feeling alone is not weakness but a universal human experience that even the most faithful believers encounter during seasons of transition, loss, or spiritual attack.

Prayer For When You Feel Alone

    1. Deuteronomy 31:6 (ESV)

Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.

Faithful God, I am strong knowing You go with me and will never leave or forsake me.

God’s presence with us eliminates fear and dread, assuring lonely hearts they never walk through life truly alone.

The promise of never leaving or forsaking provides security that human relationships cannot guarantee through circumstances and changes.

    2. Psalm 68:6 (ESV)

God sets the lonely in families, he leads out the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious dwell in a sun-scorched land.

Family-Making God, set me in community and lead me out of loneliness with singing and joy.

God specifically sets lonely people in families, demonstrating His active intervention to end isolation and create belonging.

Leading prisoners out with singing represents joyful deliverance from loneliness’s prison into freedom and meaningful connection.

    3. Matthew 28:20 (ESV)

And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.

Ever-Present Lord, thank You for being with me always, even when I feel utterly alone.

Jesus promises to be with believers always, not sometimes, ensuring constant companionship through every season.

His presence extends to the end of the age, meaning loneliness never reflects reality of Christ’s nearness.

    4. Psalm 23:4 (ESV)

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Comforting Shepherd, walk with me through this valley of loneliness and bring me comfort today.

God’s presence in the darkest valleys eliminates fear, providing comfort through His protective rod and staff.

Loneliness’s valley is not walked alone but with the Good Shepherd who comforts suffering hearts.

    5. Isaiah 41:10 (ESV)

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Strengthening God, uphold me with Your right hand as loneliness threatens to overwhelm me today.

God commands us not to fear because His presence guarantees we never face loneliness truly alone.

He promises to strengthen, help, and uphold those feeling dismayed by isolation and disconnection from others.

    6. Psalm 27:10 (ESV)

For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the Lord will take me up.

Taking Lord, take me up when I feel forsaken and alone by everyone around me.

God promises to take up those who feel abandoned, including during seasons when loneliness crushes spirits.

His taking up means assuming responsibility for companionship that missing relationships would typically provide to us.

    7. John 14:18 (ESV)

I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.

Coming Lord, come to me and fill my loneliness with Your living presence today.

Jesus promises not to leave believers as orphans, ensuring we never experience true abandonment or isolation.

His coming to us actively dispels loneliness through tangible experience of divine presence and companionship.

    8. Psalm 34:18 (ESV)

The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.

Nearby Lord, draw near to my broken heart and save my spirit crushed by loneliness.

God draws especially near to the brokenhearted, meaning loneliness activates His closeness rather than distance.

Saving the crushed in spirit demonstrates God’s active intervention to rescue from loneliness’s devastating emotional impact.

    9. Romans 8:38-39 (ESV)

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Inseparable Lord, thank You that nothing can separate me from Your love despite feeling alone.

Nothing in creation can separate believers from God’s love, meaning loneliness cannot break divine connection.

This assurance transforms perspective on loneliness, recognizing feelings don’t reflect reality of God’s constant loving presence.

    10. Hebrews 13:5 (ESV)

Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, I will never leave you nor forsake you.

Present Lord, I am content knowing You will never leave me or forsake me ever.

God promises never to leave or forsake believers despite feelings suggesting abandonment or complete isolation.

His constant presence provides security that human relationships failed to deliver or maintain through changing circumstances.

    11. Psalm 139:7-10 (ESV)

Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me.

Omnipresent God, I cannot escape Your presence even when loneliness makes me feel abandoned completely.

God’s presence is inescapable, meaning no place of loneliness exists where He is absent from us.

His hand leads and holds even in uttermost parts, ensuring we are never truly alone anywhere.

    12. Isaiah 43:2 (ESV)

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.

Protecting Lord, walk with me through loneliness’s waters that threaten to overwhelm me completely today.

God promises presence during overwhelming circumstances rather than promising to prevent all lonely seasons or difficulties.

Waters and fire represent life-threatening situations where divine presence ensures survival despite terrifying loneliness and isolation.

    13. Lamentations 3:22-23 (ESV)

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

Faithful God, thank You for new mercies each morning as I face this loneliness daily.

God’s steadfast love continues despite loneliness suggesting abandonment or that He has forgotten us completely.

Fresh mercies arrive each morning, providing hope and strength to face another day’s isolation and pain.

    14. Psalm 46:1 (ESV)

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Mighty God, be my refuge and strength as loneliness troubles my soul profoundly today.

God offers Himself as refuge where lonely hearts find safety during isolation’s storms and crushing weight.

His strength supplements our weakness, providing supernatural power to endure what we cannot face through human capacity.

    15. Zephaniah 3:17 (ESV)

The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.

Rejoicing Lord, be in my midst quieting my loneliness with Your love and joyful singing.

God is in our midst even when we feel completely alone, providing saving presence and rejoicing.

His love quiets anxiety and fear that loneliness produces, replacing turmoil with peace and divine affection.

    16. Psalm 142:4 (ESV)

Look to the right and see: there is none who takes notice of me; no refuge remains to me; no one cares for my soul.

Caring God, see me when no one notices me and care for my soul when others abandon me.

This psalm honestly expresses loneliness’s reality, feeling unseen and uncared for by surrounding people and friends.

God invites honest prayers about isolation rather than demanding we pretend everything is fine when hurting.

    17. 1 Peter 5:7 (ESV)

Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

Caring Father, I cast my loneliness anxieties on You knowing You care deeply about me.

God invites lonely people to transfer all anxieties to Him, not just some, demonstrating comprehensive care.

His care for us motivates casting anxieties, trusting His love ensures proper handling of lonely hearts.

    18. Psalm 25:16 (ESV)

Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted.

Gracious God, turn to me in my loneliness and affliction with Your merciful presence.

The psalmist identifies loneliness as legitimate reason to ask God to turn toward us with gracious attention.

Being lonely and afflicted describes how isolation creates suffering that requires divine intervention and gracious response.

    19. John 16:32 (ESV)

Behold, the hour is coming, indeed it has come, when you will be scattered, each to his own home, and will leave me alone. Yet I am not alone, for the Father is with me.

Father, help me remember like Jesus that I am not alone because You are with me.

Jesus experienced loneliness when disciples scattered, yet He affirmed the Father’s presence despite human abandonment.

This models recognizing God’s presence as sufficient even when all human companionship disappears or fails.

    20. Psalm 102:7 (ESV)

I lie awake; I am like a lonely sparrow on the housetop.

Watching God, see me lying awake alone and come near like You do the sparrows.

This psalm captures loneliness’s physical manifestation through sleeplessness and isolated feelings like solitary sparrows on rooftops.

God notices lonely sparrows, meaning He certainly notices and cares about our isolated hearts and suffering.

    21. Matthew 11:28 (ESV)

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Restful Savior, I come to You heavy laden with loneliness and receive Your rest.

Jesus invites those exhausted by loneliness’s burden to find rest in His presence and comforting care.

This rest involves exchange of heavy loneliness burdens for Christ’s companionship that brings soul peace.

    22. Psalm 73:23 (ESV)

Nevertheless, I am continually with you; you hold my right hand.

Hand-Holding God, hold my right hand reminding me I am continually with You always.

God holds our right hand, providing tangible imagery of His companionship during lonely seasons and isolation.

Being continually with God means loneliness cannot define reality of our constant divine connection and relationship.

    23. Genesis 28:15 (ESV)

Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land. For I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.

Keeping God, be with me wherever loneliness takes me and keep Your promises faithfully always.

God promises to be with us and keep us wherever we go, including through lonely valleys.

His refusal to leave until promises are fulfilled ensures we never journey alone toward His purposes.

    24. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 (ESV)

Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!

Lifting God, be my companion who lifts me when I fall into loneliness and isolation.

This passage acknowledges loneliness’s vulnerability, but God becomes the companion who lifts us up always.

While human companionship is valuable, divine companionship surpasses it, lifting us when others are absent or fail.

    25. Psalm 22:24 (ESV)

For he has not despised or abhorred the affliction of the afflicted, and he has not hidden his face from him, but has heard, when he cried to him.

Hearing God, do not hide Your face from me but hear my cry from loneliness.

God does not despise or abhor our affliction, including the very real suffering that loneliness creates.

His face is not hidden from lonely hearts but turned toward those crying desperately for companionship.

    26. Philippians 4:5 (ESV)

Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand.

Near Lord, I rejoice knowing You are at hand even when I feel completely alone.

The Lord being at hand means He is nearby, accessible, and present despite feelings suggesting abandonment.

His nearness provides comfort that transforms perspective on loneliness from despair to hope and security.

    27. Psalm 73:25-26 (ESV)

Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

Satisfying God, be the strength of my heart when loneliness makes my heart fail today.

God is our portion forever, meaning He satisfies in ways that human relationships ultimately cannot.

When flesh and heart fail under loneliness’s weight, God remains the unfailing strength of our hearts.

    28. Isaiah 49:15-16 (ESV)

Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you. Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are continually before me.

Remembering God, You have engraved me on Your palms and will not forget me ever.

God’s love surpasses even maternal instinct, ensuring He never forgets us despite feeling forgotten and alone.

Being engraved on God’s palms means we are constantly before Him, never out of sight.

    29. Psalm 147:3 (ESV)

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

Healing Lord, heal my broken heart and bind up the wounds loneliness has inflicted deeply.

God heals every kind of brokenness including hearts shattered by isolation and lack of meaningful connection.

His binding work repairs emotional wounds that loneliness has created in hearts longing for companionship.

    30. 2 Corinthians 6:18 (ESV)

And I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty.

Father God, be my Father when I feel orphaned and alone in this world today.

God promises to be a father to believers, filling the void that loneliness creates with paternal love.

Being sons and daughters means we belong to God’s family, never truly alone or without family.

    Conclusion

These prayers for when you feel alone remind us that loneliness, while painful and real, does not reflect the truth of God’s constant presence and unfailing companionship with His beloved children.

As you continue through lonely seasons, remember that the same God who promised never to leave or forsake His people walks beside you even when feelings suggest abandonment and total isolation from everyone.
