30 Guardian Angel Prayer for Adults With Scriptures to Back

“He will command his angels concerning you,” the psalmist wrote, “to guard you in all your ways.” Not a promise reserved for children saying bedtime prayers, an ordinary line in an ordinary psalm, written for anyone who reads it, at any age.

These thirty verses are for adults who need that same protection just as much as they did when someone first taught them this prayer as a child.

Pray these before you leave the house, not just before bed.

Guardian Angel Prayer for Adults

1. Psalms 91:11-12 (KJV)

“For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.”

Prayer: Command Your angels concerning me, to guard me in all my ways today.

Let their guarding cover the ordinary parts of today too, not just the risky ones.

2. Hebrews 1:14 (KJV)

“Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?”

Prayer: Your angels are ministering spirits sent to serve those who inherit salvation. Let that service reach me today.

Let me trust this help is real, even when I can’t see it directly.

3. Psalms 34:7 (KJV)

“The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.”

Prayer: Your angel encamps around those who fear You, and delivers them. Encamp around me now.

Let that circle of protection hold through everything today brings.

4. Matthew 18:10 (KJV)

“Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.”

Prayer: Their angels always see the face of the Father in heaven. Let that same connection be true for me too.

Let me trust I’m watched over just as closely as a child would be.

5. Acts 12:7-11 (KJV)

“And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands. And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me. And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision. When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him. And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the LORD hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.”

Prayer: Let an angel lead me out of whatever’s confining me, the way one led Peter out of that prison.

Let freedom come as suddenly and completely as it did for him.

6. Daniel 6:22 (KJV)

“My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions’ mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt.”

Prayer: Send Your angel to shut whatever mouths are threatening me, the way You did for Daniel.

Let what’s roaring against me be silenced completely.

7. Genesis 24:7 (KJV)

“The LORD God of heaven, which took me from my father’s house, and from the land of my kindred, and which spake unto me, and that sware unto me, saying, Unto thy seed will I give this land; he shall send his angel before thee, and thou shalt take a wife unto my son from thence.”

Prayer: Send Your angel before me, the way You sent one ahead of Abraham’s servant.

Let the way ahead of me today already be prepared.

8. Exodus 23:20 (KJV)

“Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared.”

Prayer: Send an angel ahead of me to guard me along the way and bring me safely to where I’m going.

Let arrival, not just the journey, be part of this protection.

9. 2 Kings 6:16-17 (KJV)

“And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.”

Prayer: Those with me are more than those against me. Open my eyes to see what’s actually surrounding me for protection.

Let me see even a fraction of what Elisha’s servant saw that day.

10. Psalms 103:20 (KJV)

“Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.”

Prayer: Your angels, mighty ones who do Your bidding, let them act on my behalf today.

Let their strength be greater than whatever I’m facing.

11. Daniel 3:28 (KJV)

“Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God.”

Prayer: Send Your angel to rescue me, the way You rescued Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.

Let me come through this without even the smell of smoke on me.

12. Genesis 28:12 (KJV)

“And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it.”

Prayer: Let heaven feel as close to me today as it did to Jacob, angels going up and down between us.

Let this connection feel real, not distant or theoretical.

13. Genesis 32:1-2 (KJV)

“And Jacob went on his way, and the angels of God met him. And when Jacob saw them, he said, This is God’s host: and he called the name of that place Mahanaim.”

Prayer: Let Your angels meet me too, the way they met Jacob right when he needed reassurance most.

Let this encounter be as real to me as it was to him.

14. Acts 27:23-24 (KJV)

“For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve, Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee.”

Prayer: Let an angel stand beside me and say, do not be afraid, the way one did for Paul in the middle of a storm.

Let this word reach me in the middle of whatever storm I’m in.

15. 1 Kings 19:5-7 (KJV)

“And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat. And he looked, and, behold, there was a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again. And the angel of the LORD came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee.”

Prayer: Let an angel touch me and tell me to get up and eat, the way one did for exhausted Elijah.

Let care this practical and gentle reach me on my hardest days too.

16. Judges 6:12 (KJV)

“And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him, and said unto him, The LORD is with thee, thou mighty man of valour.”

Prayer: The Lord is with you, mighty warrior, an angel told Gideon while he hid. Let me hear that same word today.

Let Your view of me lead here, not my own low estimate.

17. Luke 22:43 (KJV)

“And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.”

Prayer: An angel appeared and strengthened You in Your hardest hour. Let that same strengthening reach me in mine.

Let strength arrive exactly when I need it most, the way it did for You.

18. Matthew 4:11 (KJV)

“Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.”

Prayer: Angels came and attended to You after the wilderness. Let care like that reach me after my own hard seasons.

Let rest and care come after this trial, the way they did for You.

19. Revelation 5:11 (KJV)

“And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands;”

Prayer: Thousands upon thousands of angels surround Your throne. Let me trust there’s no shortage of help available to me.

Let this vast number remind me how small my own need actually is by comparison.

20. Hebrews 13:2 (KJV)

“Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.”

Prayer: Let me show hospitality, remembering some have entertained angels without knowing it.

Let me stay open to help, and to being help, in ways I might not immediately recognize.

21. Psalms 91:1-2 (KJV)

“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.”

Prayer: Let me dwell in Your shelter today, my refuge and fortress, the God in whom I trust.

Let dwelling there be constant, not just something I reach for in a crisis.

22. Psalms 121:7-8 (KJV)

“The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.”

Prayer: Keep me from all harm, watch over my coming and going, today and always.

Let watching cover every hour of today, not just the risky parts.

23. Isaiah 63:9 (KJV)

“In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.”

Prayer: In all my distress, let Your presence save me, the same presence that’s carried people through since ancient times.

Let this same presence carry me now.

24. Psalms 34:15 (KJV)

“The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.”

Prayer: Your eyes are on the righteous and Your ears are attentive to their cry.

Let attention here be real, not just theoretical.

25. Job 33:23-24 (KJV)

“If there be a messenger with him, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to shew unto man his uprightness: Then he is gracious unto him, and saith, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom.”

Prayer: Let there be a messenger to be gracious to me, delivering me from going down to the pit.

Let mediation reach me exactly when I need it.

26. Acts 5:19 (KJV)

“But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said,”

Prayer: Let doors that need opening be opened for me, the way an angel opened those prison doors.

Let closed doors not stay closed against Your will.

27. Acts 12:15 (KJV)

“And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel.”

Prayer: Let me trust I have a real, active angel watching over me, the way the early church casually assumed Peter did.

Let this be an ordinary, assumed truth for me too, not a rare exception.

28. Zechariah 1:9 (KJV)

“Then said I, O my lord, what are these? And the angel that talked with me said unto me, I will shew thee what these be.”

Prayer: Let an angel show me what I need to understand right now, the way one explained things to Zechariah.

Let clarity come through whatever means You choose to send it.

29. Psalms 78:23-25 (KJV)

“Though he had commanded the clouds from above, and opened the doors of heaven, And had rained down manna upon them to eat, and had given them of the corn of heaven. Man did eat angels’ food: he sent them meat to the full.”

Prayer: You opened the doors of heaven and rained down the bread of angels. Let heaven’s provision reach me today too.

Let this same generosity be true for whatever I actually need right now.

30. Numbers 6:24-26 (KJV)

“The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.”

Prayer: Bless me and keep me, make Your face shine on me, and give me peace today.

Let this old blessing, and every angel sent to carry it out, cover me today.

Conclusion

That verse about angels guarding “all your ways” was written for anyone reading the Psalms, not a special children’s edition of Scripture. It’s just as true said by an adult at forty as it was said by a child at four.

Pray this before you leave the house today, not just at bedtime.

For protection more broadly, a prayer for peace and protection pairs well with this one.
