“Comfort, comfort my people,” God told Isaiah to say, not once, but twice in a row, as if one comfort wasn’t going to be enough to reach how worn down the people actually were. Scripture repeats itself when something matters this much.
These thirty verses are for whatever’s currently unsettled, grief, uncertainty, a season that just won’t sit still.
Pray these however they come, all at once or one at a time throughout the day.
Prayer for Comfort and Peace
1. Isaiah 40:1 (KJV)
“Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.”
Prayer: Comfort me, Lord, the way You told Isaiah to comfort Your people, more than once if I need it more than once.
Let comfort be repeated as many times as I actually need to hear it.
2. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (KJV)
“Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.”
Prayer: You are the God of all comfort. Comfort me the way only You actually can right now.
Let this comfort reach the exact place that’s currently unsettled.
3. Psalms 23:4 (KJV)
“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”
Prayer: Even walking through this valley, I fear no evil, for You are with me, Your rod and staff comfort me.
Let Your presence be enough, even when nothing else is settled.
4. John 14:27 (KJV)
“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

Let this peace hold even without the circumstances changing.
5. Philippians 4:6-7 (KJV)
“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Let peace be real, not just a phrase I repeat.
6. Psalms 34:18 (KJV)

Prayer: You are close to the brokenhearted. Be close to mine right now, however broken it feels.
Let nearness be something I can actually feel today.
7. Matthew 5:4 (KJV)
“Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.”
Prayer: You called those who mourn blessed, and promised comfort. I’m holding You to that today.
Let comfort come even though nothing about today feels blessed yet.
8. Psalms 119:76 (KJV)

Prayer: May Your unfailing love be my comfort, the way You promised it would be.
Let love be the comfort I reach for first, before anything else.
9. Isaiah 51:12 (KJV)
“I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as grass;”

Let comfort come directly from You, not just from circumstances lining up.
10. Psalms 71:20-21 (KJV)

Let this not be the first time You’ve comforted me, and let it not be the last.
11. 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 (KJV)

Prayer: Return to your rest, my soul, for the Lord has been good to you.
Let my soul actually settle today, not just my circumstances.
Conclusion
God told Isaiah to say it twice, comfort, comfort, because once wasn’t going to cut it. If you need to pray these more than once today, that’s not a lack of faith, that’s just how comfort this deep usually works.
Come back to whichever ones you need again tomorrow.
For grief specifically, a prayer for grief and comfort goes deeper into that side, and a prayer for anxiety and depression is worth reading if unsettled has turned into something heavier.
