30 Prayer for God to Intervene With Scriptures to Back

Three armies were marching toward Jehoshaphat, and he had no strategy that could work. He gathered the whole nation and prayed the most honest line in the whole account: “We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.” The answer came the next day, an entire threat gone without Judah lifting a single weapon.

These thirty verses are for that same moment, when you’ve genuinely run out of options and need God to act directly. For the sense of a sudden, unmistakable turnaround, a prayer for breakthrough is worth praying alongside this one.

Pray these plainly, admitting you don’t have a plan, the way Jehoshaphat did.

Prayer for God to Intervene

1. 2 Chronicles 20:12 (KJV)

“O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee.”

Prayer: I don’t know what to do, but my eyes are on You.

Let this honesty be enough, the way it was for Jehoshaphat.

2. 2 Chronicles 20:15 (KJV)

“And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s.”

Prayer: This battle isn’t mine, it’s Yours. Let me trust You to handle what I can’t.

Let me not exhaust myself trying to fight what’s actually Yours to win.

3. 2 Chronicles 20:17 (KJV)

“Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you.”

Prayer: Let me take up my position, stand firm, and see the deliverance You will give.

Let me be ready to watch You work, not just to keep striving alone.

4. Exodus 3:7-8 (KJV)

“And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows; And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.”

Prayer: You have surely seen my affliction and heard my cry, come down and act.

Let You see this the way You saw Israel’s suffering in Egypt.

5. Exodus 14:13-14 (KJV)

“And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.”

Prayer: Let me stand firm and see the deliverance You will provide, You will fight for me.

Let me not panic before I’ve even seen what You’ll do.

6. Psalms 44:23-26 (KJV)

“Awake, why sleepest thou, O Lord? arise, cast us not off for ever. Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and forgettest our affliction and our oppression? For our soul is bowed down to the dust: our belly cleaveth unto the earth. Arise for our help, and redeem us for thy mercies’ sake.”

Prayer: Awake, rise up, don’t reject me forever, rise and help me because of Your love.

Let this bold, honest request be met with Your action.

7. Psalms 74:22 (KJV)

“Arise, O God, plead thine own cause: remember how the foolish man reproacheth thee daily.”

Prayer: Rise up, defend my cause.

Let You be the one who takes this on, not just me.

8. Isaiah 64:1 (KJV)

“Oh that thou wouldest rend the heavens, that thou wouldest come down, that the mountains might flow down at thy presence,”

Prayer: Rend the heavens and come down.

Let this be direct and unmistakable, not subtle or delayed.

9. Habakkuk 3:2 (KJV)

“O LORD, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O LORD, revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy.”

Prayer: Renew Your work in this situation, and in Your wrath remember mercy.

Let mercy shape however You choose to intervene.

10. Jonah 2:2 (KJV)

“And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.”

Let this same pattern hold true for me right now.

11. Psalms 22:19 (KJV)

Prayer: Be pleased to deliver me, Lord, come quickly to help me.

Let this urgency be met with real, timely action.

14. Psalms 121:1-2 (KJV)

“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.”

Prayer: I lift my eyes to the hills, my help comes from You, Maker of heaven and earth.

Let my eyes stay lifted, not fixed on the problem alone.

15. Isaiah 41:10 (KJV)

“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”

Prayer: Don’t let me be dismayed, You are my God, You will strengthen and help me.

Let help come before I feel completely overwhelmed.

Let help feel present, not distant, right now.

“Therefore thou deliveredst them into the hand of their enemies, who vexed them: and in the time of their trouble, when they cried unto thee, thou heardest them from heaven; and according to thy manifold mercies thou gavest them saviours, who saved them out of the hand of their enemies.”

Prayer: In my distress I cry out to heaven, hear me in Your great compassion.

Let compassion be what moves You to act.

“And when the children of Israel cried unto the LORD, the LORD raised up a deliverer to the children of Israel, who delivered them, even Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother.”

Let deliverance come in whatever form You choose to send it.

19. Psalms 34:6 (KJV)

Let this be my testimony too, not just an old story.

20. Psalms 91:15 (KJV)

Prayer: When I call, You will answer, You will be with me in trouble.

Let Your presence be as real as Your answer.

21. Jeremiah 33:3 (KJV)

Let this intervention be something I couldn’t have engineered myself.

22. Psalms 18:6 (KJV)

“In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.”

Let this crying out be met with real, active listening.

23. Matthew 7:7-8 (KJV)

Let persistence not turn into losing hope while I wait.

24. James 5:16 (KJV)

“Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”

Let this prayer carry real weight before You.

Let peace hold even before the intervention arrives.

Prayer: Bless me and keep me, make Your face shine on me, and give me peace while I wait for You to act.

Let this old blessing carry me until the intervention comes.

Conclusion

Jehoshaphat’s army didn’t have to fight the next day. They walked out to find their enemies had already destroyed each other overnight. Sometimes God’s intervention looks nothing like what you were bracing to do yourself, it simply arrives, and the fight you were dreading is already over.

Say out loud today exactly what you need God to intervene in, without dressing it up or minimizing it.

For a broader prayer over whatever this situation requires, a prayer for deliverance is worth praying alongside this one.
