30 Prayer for Joy and Peace With Scriptures to Back

“I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete,” Jesus told His disciples, right in the same conversation where He also said, “peace I leave with you, my peace I give you.” He offered both in the same breath, hours before His own arrest.

These thirty verses pair that same joy and peace together, not as separate goals but as something meant to arrive together. For hope alongside these two, a prayer for hope is worth praying too.

Pray these together, letting joy and peace settle in at the same time rather than chasing one without the other.

Prayer for Joy and Peace

1. John 15:11 (KJV)

“These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.”

Prayer: Let Your joy be in me, and let my joy be complete.

Let this joy be full, not just a small measure of relief.

2. John 14:27 (KJV)

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

Prayer: You leave me Your peace, not as the world gives. Let my heart not be troubled or afraid.

Let this be a different kind of peace than just distraction.

3. John 16:22 (KJV)

“And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.”

Prayer: Let my grief turn to joy that no one can take away from me.

Let this joy be secure, not dependent on circumstances staying good.

4. Galatians 5:22-23 (KJV)

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”

Prayer: Let the fruit of Your Spirit, love, joy, peace, actually grow in me.

Let this be genuine growth, not something I force on my own.

5. Romans 14:17 (KJV)

“For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.”

Prayer: Your kingdom is righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.

Let this be what actually defines my life, not just circumstances.

6. Romans 15:13 (KJV)

“Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.”

Prayer: Fill me with joy and peace as I trust You, so I overflow with hope.

Let both joy and peace overflow, not just one or the other.

7. Philippians 4:4 (KJV)

“Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.”

Prayer: Let me rejoice in You always, and again I say, let me rejoice.

Let rejoicing be a repeated choice, not a one-time feeling.

8. Philippians 4:6-7 (KJV)

“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Prayer: Let me bring my requests to You, and let peace guard my heart and mind.

Let peace be stronger than anxiety today.

9. Nehemiah 8:10 (KJV)

Let joy fuel this, not just gritted-teeth willpower.

Let joy be full today, not just relief between hard things.

11. Psalms 30:5 (KJV)

“For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.”

Prayer: Weeping may stay for the night, but joy comes in the morning.

Let this morning bring at least a little of that joy.

12. Isaiah 55:12 (KJV)

Let joy and peace both show up visibly today, not just internally.

13. Isaiah 26:3 (KJV)

Let my mind return to You whenever it wanders toward worry.

Let joy and Your protection go together for me.

18. Psalms 126:2-3 (KJV)

“Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them. The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.”

Let this joy be audible, not just internal.

Prayer: This is the day You have made. Let me rejoice and be glad in it.

Let gladness come before circumstances have earned it.

Conclusion

Jesus offered both joy and peace on the same night He knew He would be betrayed, arrested, and crucified within hours. Neither promise depended on His circumstances improving first. That’s worth remembering when your own circumstances aren’t easy either.

Notice today whether you’re chasing joy without peace, or peace without joy, and pray for both together.

For a quieter, steadier version of this same combination, a prayer for comfort and peace is worth praying alongside this one.
