30 Prayer For Peace in Ukraine With Scriptures to Back

By Pst. Williams ChurchillApril 20, 2026

Amidst the echoes of geopolitical tension and the shadows of displacement, a heartfelt prayer for peace in Ukraine stands as a defiant act of spiritual solidarity.

By anchoring our requests in the promises of the Prince of Peace, we invite a supernatural calm to settle over the cities and the souls of those currently caught in the crossfire.

    Prayer For Peace in Ukraine

    1. Psalm 46:9 (ESV)

He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; he breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the chariots with fire.

Heavenly Father, we ask You to supernaturally halt the engines of destruction and bring a definitive end to the violence that has ravaged the Ukrainian landscape.

You possess the ultimate authority to dismantle the weapons of man and to quiet the thunder of artillery with the commanding power of Your holy voice.

I pray that the fires of conflict are extinguished by the rain of Your mercy, leading to a day where the tools of war are permanently laid aside.

    2. Matthew 5:9 (ESV)

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.

Lord, empower the leaders and the diplomats involved in this crisis to prioritize the sanctity of life over the pursuit of power and political gain today.

True blessing is found in the difficult work of reconciliation, which requires a level of courage that only Your Holy Spirit can provide to a human heart.

May those standing at the negotiation tables be filled with a divine wisdom that facilitates a lasting and just settlement for every citizen of this wounded nation.

    3. Psalm 34:14 (ESV)

Turn away from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.

God, we pray that the hearts of the aggressors are turned toward righteousness and that the pursuit of peace becomes more desirable than the acquisition of territory.

A shift in the spiritual atmosphere is required to move humanity away from the shadows of malice and toward the light of productive and very kind cooperation.

I ask that You stir the consciences of those in positions of influence, compelling them to chase after harmony with the same intensity they once used for war.

    4. Isaiah 2:4 (ESV)

He shall judge between the nations, and shall decide disputes for many peoples; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore.

Father, we look forward to the day when the resources currently used for battle are redirected toward the rebuilding of homes and the restoration of vibrant agriculture.

Your judgment brings a perfect clarity that resolves the most ancient of feuds, allowing former enemies to work side by side for the benefit of all people.

I pray for a spiritual transformation in the region where the focus shifts from military training to the beautiful and life giving art of peaceful and humble service.

    5. Psalm 91:1-2 (ESV)

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

Lord, be a literal shield for the families hiding in shelters and for those fleeing their homes, providing them with a security that no missile can penetrate.

Under the shadow of Your wings, the fearful can find a sanctuary of rest that sustains them through the long and very cold nights of this crisis.

I trust in Your ability to guard the innocent and to provide a fortress of protection around the vulnerable children who are currently facing the horrors of war.

    6. Lamentations 3:22 (ESV)

    The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end;

God, we thank You that Your love is not limited by borders or blockades, and we ask for a fresh outpouring of mercy upon the Ukrainian people.

Even in the middle of a war zone, Your compassion remains a constant force that offers hope to the hopeless and strength to the very weary souls.

May the international community be moved to reflect Your never ending mercy by providing the aid and the support needed to sustain those who have lost everything.

    7. Psalm 122:6 (ESV)

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! May they be secure who love you!

Just as we are commanded to pray for the holy city, we lift up the cities of Ukraine, asking for a divine security to settle over every street.

Those who advocate for tranquility are promised a level of spiritual safety that guards their hearts from the corrosive effects of hatred and bitter, deep resentment.

I speak peace over Kyiv and every surrounding village, declaring that the God of the universe is mindful of the cries rising from the rubble of conflict.

    8. Romans 15:33 (ESV)

May the God of peace be with you all. Amen.

Lord, let Your actual presence be felt in the homes of the grieving and in the hearts of the soldiers, bringing a calm that surpasses human understanding.

The God of peace is not a distant observer but an active participant who walks beside the suffering and offers a hand of comfort in the dark.

I pray that every person in the region experiences a tangible sense of Your nearness, which provides the emotional resilience required to face another difficult and trying day.

    9. Psalm 29:11 (ESV)

May the Lord give strength to his people! May the Lord bless his people with peace!

Father, grant the people of Ukraine the internal fortitude to endure this season and the external blessing of a world that is quiet and very safe.

Strength is not just found in the muscles of a warrior but in the spirit of a grandmother who continues to pray for her family amidst the ruins.

I ask for a supernatural infusion of power for the weary, followed by the quiet benediction of a peace that restores the joy of a free nation.

    10. Isaiah 26:3 (ESV)

You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.

God, anchor the minds of the displaced and the traumatized in Your eternal truth so they can find a steady center in an unstable and chaotic world.

Perfect peace is a gift for those who refuse to let the noise of the media drown out the quiet whispers of Your faithful and holy promises.

May their trust in Your sovereignty act as a spiritual ballast that keeps their souls from capsizing during the turbulent waves of this ongoing and tragic regional war.

    11. Psalm 147:3 (ESV)

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

Lord, we ask for a deep emotional and physical healing for the survivors of this conflict, especially for those who have lost loved ones to the violence.

The scars of war run deep, but You are the Great Physician who knows how to mend the shattered pieces of a human life and heart.

I pray for the medical teams and the counselors working on the front lines, asking that You would use them as instruments of Your restorative and kind grace.

    12. Matthew 11:28 (ESV)

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Jesus, we invite the weary people of Ukraine to find their true rest in You, laying down the heavy burden of survival at Your merciful and loving feet.

The weight of trauma can be too much for a person to carry alone, but Your presence offers a lightness that restores the spirit and the weary mind.

I pray for the millions of refugees who are searching for a place to rest their heads, asking that You would provide them with a warm welcome.

    13. Psalm 33:10 (ESV)

The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; he frustrates the plans of the peoples.

God, we ask that You would intervene in the strategic meetings of the powerful and confuse any plans that are designed to bring more harm and death.

Your sovereignty overrules the agendas of man, ensuring that the final word on the fate of a nation belongs to the Creator of the world.

I pray that every wicked scheme is thwarted and that the path toward peace is revealed through the frustration of those who only seek to destroy lives.

    14. Ephesians 2:14 (ESV)

For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility

Lord, we ask that the walls of ethnic and political hatred are demolished by the power of the cross, bringing a unity that is truly and deeply supernatural.

Hostility is a prison that keeps nations in a cycle of revenge, but Your sacrifice provides the key to a freedom that allows for genuine and lasting forgiveness.

I pray for a miraculous reconciliation between neighbors who have been divided by this war, creating a future built on the foundation of Your redemptive and holy love.

    15. Psalm 72:7 (ESV)

In his days may the righteous flourish, and peace abound, till the moon be no more!

Father, we long for a season where the people can flourish in their work and their families without the constant threat of sirens and falling and dangerous missiles.

An abundance of peace is the environment where righteousness can grow and where the next generation can be raised in the light of Your glorious and powerful truth.

I pray for a cessation of hostilities that lasts for generations, allowing the land of Ukraine to become a garden of prosperity and a beacon of hope.

    16. Philippians 4:7 (ESV)

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

God, we ask for a peace that doesn’t make sense to the logic of the world to guard the mental health of those living in the middle of the fire.

When the surrounding circumstances are filled with dread, Your internal guard keeps the heart from being overwhelmed by the darkness of a deep and lonely despair.

I speak protection over the thoughts of the soldiers and the civilians alike, asking that the mind of Christ would be their primary and very strong defense.

    17. Psalm 144:1 (ESV)

    Blessed be the Lord, my rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle;

Lord, we recognize that while we pray for peace, many are currently fighting for their existence; we ask that You be their solid ground and their protector.

Grant them the strength to defend the innocent with honor and the restraint to act with justice even in the heat of a very difficult and bloody combat.

I pray that the need for battle is quickly removed as Your divine intervention brings a resolution that satisfies the requirements of a true and holy peace.

    18. 2 Thessalonians 3:16 (ESV)

Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you all.

We petition the Lord of peace to manifest His character in Ukraine right now, in every city square and in every single quiet, rural farm house today.

There is no situation too complex for Your peace to reach, and we ask that it would permeate the very soil of the nation in every way possible.

I thank You for being a God who is present in the suffering, offering a hand of companionship to every person who feels abandoned by the world right now.

    19. Psalm 46:1 (ESV)

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Father, be the immediate assistance for the trapped and the injured, providing a way of escape and a source of power for those who are currently helpless.

You are not a distant God who watches from afar, but a present help who steps into the rubble to rescue those who are calling out for Your name.

I pray for the emergency responders and the volunteers, asking that You would multiply their strength as they work to save lives in a very dangerous environment.

    20. James 3:18 (ESV)

And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

Lord, lead the peacemakers to plant seeds of harmony today so that the future harvest of the nation is one of justice and spiritual and physical growth.

Righteousness cannot flourish in a field of violence, so we ask for the quietness required for the gospel of peace to take root in the region’s heart.

I pray for the churches in Ukraine, asking that they would be the primary sowers of hope and the centers of a community that is built on Your grace.

    21. Psalm 10:17 (ESV)

O Lord, you hear the desire of the afflicted; you will strengthen their heart; you will incline your ear.

God, listen to the whispered prayers of the mothers in the basements and the cries of the wounded on the field, for You are a God who hears.

When the world seems deaf to their plight, let them feel the warmth of Your attention and the strength that comes from knowing the Almighty is listening now.

I ask that You would bend down Your ear to the land of Ukraine and answer their petitions with a miracle of peace that honors Your great and holy name.

    22. John 14:27 (ESV)

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

Jesus, we receive Your specific brand of peace for the people of Ukraine, which is more durable and more effective than any earthly treaty or political cease-fire.

The world offers a peace that is fragile and conditional, but Your gift is an eternal reality that removes the power of fear from the human and fragile heart.

I pray that the fear of the future is replaced by a confidence in Your presence, allowing the people to stand firm regardless of the headlines of the day.

    23. Psalm 37:11 (ESV)

But the meek shall inherit the land and delight themselves in abundant peace.

Lord, we pray for the humble citizens who simply want to live in safety, asking that You would restore their inheritance and their right to a peaceful life.

The pride of the powerful often tramples the weak, but Your Word promises a reversal where the gentle find their delight in a world that is finally quiet.

I ask that the land of Ukraine is returned to its people and that the abundance of peace becomes the defining characteristic of their national and personal identity.

    24. Micah 4:3 (ESV)

    and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks;

God, we ask for a massive conversion of the machinery of war into the tools of industry and the instruments of a flourishing and very healthy society.

Transform the factories of death into the workshops of life, where the creativity of the people is used to build up rather than to tear down their neighbors.

I pray for a generational shift where the children of Ukraine no longer know the sound of an explosion but only the sound of a thriving and peaceful community.

    25. Psalm 121:7 (ESV)

The Lord will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life.

Father, preserve the lives of the soldiers and the civilians alike, shielding them from the malice of the enemy and the accidents of a very chaotic war.

Your protection is the only guarantee of safety in a world where human systems have failed to maintain the order and the peace we so desperately desire.

I trust in Your ability to keep the soul of the nation alive, ensuring that the light of Ukraine is never extinguished by the darkness of an unprovoked and evil attack.

    26. 1 Corinthians 14:33 (ESV)

For God is not a God of confusion but of peace.

Lord, bring an end to the confusion and the propaganda that fuels this conflict, allowing the truth of Your peace to shine through the clouds of war.

Clarity is needed for a resolution to be reached, and we ask that You would give the negotiators a mind that is focused on the actual and holy reality of peace.

I pray that the noise of the world is silenced so that the voice of the Spirit can be heard, leading the nations toward a path of reconciliation and deep rest.

    27. Psalm 85:8 (ESV)

Let me hear what God the Lord will speak, for he will speak peace to his people, to his saints; but let them not turn back to folly.

God, we are listening for Your decree of peace over the region, and we ask that once it is established, the people would never return to the path of war.

Prevent the cycle of violence from repeating itself by anchoring the hearts of the new generation in the wisdom of Your holy and life giving commands.

I pray for a permanent change in the heart of the nations, where the folly of pride is replaced by the wisdom of a peace that honors Your name forever.

    28. Matthew 26:52 (ESV)

Then Jesus said to him, “Put your sword back into its place. For all who take the sword will perish by the sword.”

Lord, we ask that those who have initiated this violence would hear Your command to put the sword away before they are consumed by their own destructive and evil actions.

Acknowledge the futility of war as a means of achieving lasting greatness, and lead the nations toward a path of humility and a genuine and deep repentance.

I pray for a sudden and unexpected surrender to the principles of peace, where the pursuit of dominance is abandoned for the sake of a shared and very quiet future.

    29. Psalm 23:4 (ESV)

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Father, accompany every person currently walking through the valley of this war, offering them the comfort and the guidance that only a Good Shepherd can provide.

Your presence removes the sting of terror, even when the shadow of death feels very close and very real in the middle of a bombed out city square.

I ask that Your rod of protection and Your staff of direction would lead the Ukrainian people out of this valley and into the green pastures of a lasting peace.

    30. Revelation 21:4 (ESV)

He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.

Lord, we finish our prayer by looking toward the ultimate peace of Your kingdom, where the pain of this war will be a distant memory in the light of Your glory.

Wipe away the tears of the Ukrainian mothers and heal the wounds of the land, bringing a restoration that only the King of Kings could ever achieve for us.

I thank You that the former things of war and death will eventually pass away, leaving only the eternal and perfect peace of a world that is fully and truly redeemed.

    Conclusion

Igniting the process of recovery in a world filled with personal and global conflict often starts with a specific prayer for addiction that asks for a spiritual recalibration.

By acknowledging that your internal battles are as significant as the external ones, you create a pathway for a healing that strengthens your soul for the journey ahead.
