30 Prayer for Safety of a Loved One With Scriptures to Back

“The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him,” David wrote, describing a kind of protection that surrounds someone completely, not just shields them from one direction. Praying that over yourself is one thing. Praying it over someone you love, someone you can’t watch every hour of the day, is another kind of trust altogether.

These thirty verses are for exactly that, covering a loved one you can’t be with every moment, trusting Someone else can be.

Pray these by their name, especially on the days you can’t stop worrying about them.

Prayer for Safety of a Loved One

1. Psalms 34:7 (KJV)

“The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.”

Prayer: Your angel encamps around those who fear You, and delivers them. Encamp around them now.

Let that circle of protection hold wherever they are today.

2. Psalms 91:9-11 (KJV)

“Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.”

Prayer: Because they’ve made You their refuge, let no harm come near them, and command Your angels to guard them.

Let their guarding cover every place I can’t personally reach.

3. Numbers 6:24-26 (KJV)

“The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.”

Prayer: Bless them and keep them, make Your face shine on them, and give them peace.

Let this old blessing cover them today specifically.

4. Psalms 121:7-8 (KJV)

“The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.”

Prayer: Keep them from all harm, watch over their life, their coming and going.

Let watching cover them every hour I can’t.

5. 2 Thessalonians 3:3 (KJV)

“But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.”

Prayer: You are faithful, and You will strengthen and protect them from the evil one.

Let both promises hold for them at the same time.

6. Psalms 5:11-12 (KJV)

“But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee. For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.”

Prayer: Spread Your protection over them, surround them with Your favor as with a shield.

Let that shield be up before they even ask for it.

7. Isaiah 54:17 (KJV)

“No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.”

Prayer: No weapon forged against them will prevail.

Let this promise cover threats I can see and the ones I can’t.

8. Proverbs 18:10 (KJV)

“The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.”

Prayer: Your name is a fortified tower, let them run into it and be safe.

Let running to You be their first move, not their last resort.

Prayer: The eternal God is their refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.

Let those arms hold them steady today.

11. Psalms 121:1-2 (KJV)

Let being cared for feel real to them, not distant.

13. Psalms 91:1-2 (KJV)

Let Your presence be as real to them as it is to me right now.

Let this protection cover them wherever they go today.

16. Psalms 27:1 (KJV)

Prayer: You are their light and salvation, whom shall they fear.

Let fear lose its grip on them today.

17. Philippians 4:6-7 (KJV)

“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Prayer: Let them bring today’s concerns to You, and let peace guard their heart and mind.

Let peace reach them wherever they are right now.

18. Psalms 121:3-4 (KJV)

“He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.”

Prayer: You are able to keep them from stumbling, and present them without fault before Your glorious presence.

Let this promise cover them today, and every day I’m not physically there.

Conclusion

You can’t be everywhere your loved one goes, and you were never meant to be. Someone who can be is already watching, encamped around them the way that old psalm describes.

Send them a message today letting them know you prayed for them specifically, by name.

For their safety on the actual road, a prayer for traveling by car pairs well with this one.
