Paul asked God three times to remove a specific weakness, and three times God said no, answering instead with a different promise: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Comfort and strength showed up together, not as two separate answers, but as one.
These thirty verses are for whatever you’re currently too tired to keep carrying alone, and too discouraged to keep pushing through by willpower.
Pray these together, letting the comfort settle you before you ask for more strength.
Prayer for Strength and Comfort
1. 2 Corinthians 12:9 (KJV)
“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
Prayer: Your grace is sufficient, Your power made perfect in my weakness. Let both meet me here today.
Let weakness be the place Your power actually shows up clearest.
2. Isaiah 40:29-31 (KJV)
“He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
Prayer: You give strength to the weary and increase the power of the weak. I’m both right now, meet me there.
Let renewed strength come exactly when the old kind runs out.
3. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (KJV)
“Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.”
Prayer: You are the God of all comfort. Comfort me the way only You actually can right now.
Let comfort reach the exact place I’m running low.
4. Philippians 4:13 (KJV)

Prayer: I can do this through Christ who strengthens me, even the parts I don’t currently feel able to.
Let strength cover what I have no reserves left for.
5. Psalms 73:26 (KJV)
“My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.”
Prayer: My flesh and my heart may fail, but You are the strength of my heart forever.
Let Your strength stand in exactly where mine gives out.
6. Psalms 34:18 (KJV)
“The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.”
Prayer: You are close to the brokenhearted. Be close to mine right now, however worn down it feels.
Let nearness be something I can actually feel today.
7. Nehemiah 8:10 (KJV)
“Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our LORD: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”
Prayer: Let the joy of the Lord be my strength today, something sturdier than gritted-teeth effort.
Let joy fuel today instead of just obligation.
8. Matthew 11:28-29 (KJV)
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.”
Prayer: I’m weary and burdened, Lord. Give me the rest You promised, and let me learn from You instead of striving alone.
Let rest come even without a full pause in the schedule.
9. Psalms 138:3 (KJV)
“In the day when I cried thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul.”
Prayer: When I called, You answered, You made me bold and stouthearted. Do that again today.
Let boldness replace the discouragement I walked in with.
10. 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 (KJV)
“Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.”
Prayer: Encourage my heart and strengthen me in every good word and deed.
Let encouragement reach further than just today’s mood.
11. Ephesians 3:16 (KJV)
“That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;”
Prayer: Strengthen me with power through Your Spirit in my inner being, where the tiredness actually lives.
Let strength reach past the surface, into the tired place underneath.
12. Psalms 147:3 (KJV)

Prayer: Heal my broken heart and bind up this wound, however long that healing actually takes.
Let healing not be rushed, but let it still be real.

Let sure footing come even on today’s unstable ground.
14. Isaiah 41:10 (KJV)

Prayer: Don’t let me be dismayed, You are my God, You will strengthen and help me.
Let strengthening come before I completely run dry.
15. Psalms 46:1 (KJV)
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
Prayer: You are my refuge and strength, a very present help in this exact kind of trouble.
Let help feel present, not distant, today.
16. Colossians 1:11 (KJV)
“Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;”

Let strength here last as long as this actually takes.
17. Psalms 55:22 (KJV)
“Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.”
Prayer: I’m casting this burden on You, trusting You to sustain me, not let me be shaken.
Let casting it be real relief, not just words.
18. Psalms 27:1 (KJV)
“The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”
Prayer: You are my light and salvation, whom shall I fear, the stronghold of my life, of whom shall I be afraid.
Let fear lose its grip the moment I remember who You are.
19. 1 Peter 5:10 (KJV)
“But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.”

Let restoration be as thorough as this promise describes.
20. Psalms 62:1-2 (KJV)

Let strength come with a reason to sing, not just a reason to keep going.
22. Psalms 71:20-21 (KJV)
“Thou, which hast shewed me great and sore troubles, shalt quicken me again, and shalt bring me up again from the depths of the earth. Thou shalt increase my greatness, and comfort me on every side.”

Let this not be the first time You’ve carried me through something like this.
23. 2 Corinthians 4:16-17 (KJV)

Let renewal happen even when nothing visible has changed yet.
24. Psalms 28:7 (KJV)
“The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.”

25. Isaiah 66:13 (KJV)

Let hope be the overflow today, not the exception.
29. Psalms 29:11 (KJV)

Prayer: Give strength to me, Lord, and bless me with peace, both, right now.
Let this blessing land exactly where I’m running on empty.
30. Deuteronomy 33:25 (KJV)
“Thy shoes shall be iron and brass; and as thy days, so shall thy strength be.”
Prayer: As my days are, so let my strength be, matched to exactly what today asks of me.
Let strength arrive in the right measure for today, not more, not less.
Conclusion
Paul stopped asking God to remove the weakness once he understood what the weakness was making room for. That’s not resignation, that’s a different kind of strength altogether.
Let comfort settle you first today, and let strength follow from there.
For the version of this that leans more into the exhaustion itself, a prayer for strength and peace goes deeper into that side, and a prayer for comfort and peace leans further into the comfort alone.
