The disciples came back from ministry so busy they didn’t even have time to eat, and Jesus’s response wasn’t to hand them more work. He said, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” Rest wasn’t a reward for finishing. It was the actual instruction.
These thirty verses are for the season that has you running on fumes, too many demands and not enough hours.
Pray these and then actually take the rest they’re pointing you toward, not just the sentiment.
Prayer for Stressful Times
1. Mark 6:31 (KJV)
“And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.”
Prayer: Let me come away with You to a quiet place and actually rest, not just talk about needing it.
Let rest be something I actually take, not just wish for.
2. Exodus 18:17-18 (KJV)
“And Moses’ father in law said unto him, The thing that thou doest is not good. Thou wilt surely wear away, both thou, and this people that is with thee: for this thing is too heavy for thee; thou art not able to perform it thyself alone.”
Prayer: What I’m carrying alone isn’t good, it will wear me out. Give me the wisdom to actually share this load.
Let me hear this correction the way Moses did, without defensiveness.
3. 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 (KJV)
“We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;”
Prayer: I’m hard pressed on every side, but not crushed. Let that hold true through this stretch.
Let me not be crushed, even on the days I feel close to it.
4. Philippians 4:6-7 (KJV)
“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Prayer: Let me bring every one of these pressures to You instead of carrying them all silently.
Let peace guard my heart through this whole stretch, not just today.
5. Psalms 55:22 (KJV)
“Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.”
Prayer: I’m casting this whole load onto You, trusting You to sustain me, not let me be shaken.
Let casting it be a real release, not just words.
6. Matthew 11:28-30 (KJV)
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Prayer: I’m weary and burdened. Give me the rest You promised, and let me learn from You instead of striving alone.
Let rest come even without a full pause in the schedule.
7. Isaiah 40:29-31 (KJV)
“He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
Prayer: You give strength to the weary and increase the power of the weak. Meet me exactly there.
Let renewed strength come exactly when the old kind runs out.

Let help feel present, not distant, today.
9. Psalms 61:2 (KJV)
“From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.”
Prayer: From the ends of the earth I call to You, when my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock higher than I.
Let higher ground be found, above whatever’s currently overwhelming me.
10. 2 Corinthians 1:8-9 (KJV)
“For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life: But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:”
Prayer: Like Paul, I feel pressed beyond my ability to endure. Let this teach me to rely on You, not on my own strength.
Let this pressure actually deepen my dependence on You.
11. Psalms 34:17-19 (KJV)
“The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.”
Prayer: I’m crying out, hear me, and deliver me from all my troubles, all of them.
Let deliverance be as thorough as this promise claims.
12. 1 Peter 5:7 (KJV)

Let Your victory be bigger than this current stretch of trouble.
14. Psalms 94:19 (KJV)

Let being cared for feel real, not distant, right now.
16. Psalms 121:1-2 (KJV)
“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.”
Prayer: I lift my eyes to the hills, where does my help come from? My help comes from You.
Let my eyes stay lifted instead of fixed on the to-do list.
17. Isaiah 26:3 (KJV)
“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”
Prayer: Keep me in perfect peace because my mind is fixed on You, not on everything currently demanding my attention.
Let my focus be the thing that actually shifts today.
18. Psalms 62:1-2 (KJV)
“Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.”

Let rest be found in You before it’s found in a shorter to-do list.

Let me trust this even before I know how it resolves.
20. 2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV)
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

Let clear thinking hold up under this pressure.
21. Psalms 4:1 (KJV)

Let relief come, not just acknowledgment of the pressure.
22. Nehemiah 8:10 (KJV)
“Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our LORD: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”

Let joy fuel this season instead of pure obligation.

Let dwelling there be constant, not just something I reach for in crisis.
25. Colossians 3:15 (KJV)
“And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.”

Prayer: Bless me through this stressful stretch and keep me, make Your face shine on me, and give me peace.
Let this old blessing hold, no matter how full this season gets.
Conclusion
Jesus didn’t wait for the disciples to finish everything before telling them to rest. He interrupted the busyness itself, because rest was never meant to be the reward at the end, it was the instruction in the middle.
Take an actual break today, not just a shorter to-do list.
For the exhaustion this stress usually brings, a prayer for strength and peace pairs well with this one.
