Jesus taught His disciples to pray one specific request near the end of the Lord’s Prayer: “deliver us from the evil one.” Not a vague wish for things to go well, a direct, named request for protection from something real.
These thirty verses are for that same direct request, whatever form evil is currently taking in your life.
Pray these plainly, naming what you’re asking to be delivered from if you can.
Prayer for Deliverance from Evil
1. Matthew 6:13 (KJV)
“And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.”
Prayer: Lead me not into temptation, but deliver me from the evil one, exactly as You taught us to pray.
Let this ancient request be exactly what I need today too.
2. 2 Thessalonians 3:3 (KJV)
“But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.”
Prayer: You are faithful, and You will strengthen and protect me from the evil one.
Let both promises hold at the same time, strength and protection together.
3. Psalms 91:1-2 (KJV)
“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.”
Prayer: Let me dwell in Your shelter, my refuge and fortress, the God in whom I trust.
Let dwelling there be constant, not just something I reach for in crisis.
4. Ephesians 6:11 (KJV)
“Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”
Prayer: Let me put on Your full armor, so I can stand against the devil’s schemes.
Let me actually put this armor on, not just know it exists.
5. Ephesians 6:12 (KJV)
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
Prayer: This struggle isn’t against flesh and blood. Let me fight it the right way, not just react to what I see.
Let clarity about the real battle keep me from fighting the wrong one.
6. 1 Peter 5:8 (KJV)
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:”
Prayer: Let me be alert and of sober mind, since the enemy prowls like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
Let me stay aware, not naive about what’s actually at work.
7. James 4:7 (KJV)
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
Prayer: Let me submit myself to You, resist the devil, and let him flee from me.
Let resistance be real, not just wished for.
8. Psalms 34:7 (KJV)
“The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.”
Prayer: Your angel encamps around those who fear You, and delivers them. Encamp around me now.
Let that circle of protection hold today and every day.
9. Psalms 121:7-8 (KJV)
“The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.”
Prayer: Keep me from all harm, watch over my life, my coming and going.
Let watching cover what I can see coming and what I can’t.
10. Isaiah 54:17 (KJV)
“No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.”
Prayer: No weapon forged against me will prevail. Let that be true over whatever’s aimed at me.
Let this promise cover threats I can see and the ones I can’t.
11. Romans 8:37 (KJV)
“Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.”
Prayer: In all this I am more than a conqueror through You who loved me.
Let victory here be more than surviving, let it be real conquest.
12. 2 Corinthians 10:4 (KJV)
“(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)”
Prayer: My weapons have divine power to demolish strongholds. Let that power be at work against whatever’s rising against me.
Let this stronghold actually come down, not just weaken temporarily.
13. Psalms 18:2 (KJV)
“The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.”
Prayer: You are my rock, my fortress, my deliverer, my shield, my stronghold.
Let every one of these names cover what I’m facing today.
14. Psalms 27:1 (KJV)
“The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”
Prayer: You are my light and salvation, whom shall I fear, the stronghold of my life.
Let fear lose its grip the moment I remember who You are.
15. 1 John 4:4 (KJV)
“Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”
Prayer: The One who is in me is greater than the one who is in the world.
Let this truth settle any sense of being outmatched.
16. Colossians 2:15 (KJV)
“And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.”
Prayer: You disarmed the powers and authorities, triumphing over them by the cross.
Let this finished victory be what I stand on, not a battle I’m still fighting alone.
17. Luke 10:19 (KJV)
“Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”
Prayer: You have given me authority to overcome the enemy, and nothing will harm me.
Let this authority be real, not just theoretical.
18. Psalms 46:1 (KJV)
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
Prayer: You are my refuge and strength, a very present help in this exact kind of trouble.
Let help feel present, not distant, today.
19. Psalms 91:9-11 (KJV)
“Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.”
Prayer: Because You are my refuge, let no harm come near me, and command Your angels to guard me.
Let protection be as real as the request I’m making.
20. Nahum 1:7 (KJV)
“The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.”
Prayer: You are good, a refuge in times of trouble, You care for those who trust in You.
Let being cared for feel real, not distant, right now.
21. Psalms 121:1-2 (KJV)
“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.”
Prayer: I lift my eyes to the hills, where does my help come from? My help comes from You.
Let my eyes stay lifted instead of fixed on the threat.
22. 2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV)
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
Prayer: You gave me a spirit not of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.
Let a sound mind hold steady, even when the threat feels close.
23. Psalms 3:3 (KJV)
“But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.”
Prayer: You are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head.
Let my head stay lifted, whatever’s surrounding me.
24. Romans 16:20 (KJV)
“And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.”
Prayer: The God of peace will soon crush the enemy under my feet.
Let this be soon, not indefinitely delayed.
25. Psalms 138:7 (KJV)
“Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.”
Prayer: Even walking in the midst of trouble, You preserve my life, stretch out Your hand and save me.
Let Your hand be visible in how this all turns out.
26. Deuteronomy 31:6 (KJV)
“Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.”
Prayer: Let me be strong and courageous, not afraid, for You go with me into whatever this is.
Let courage cover what I’m about to face.
27. Proverbs 18:10 (KJV)
“The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.”
Prayer: Your name is a fortified tower, let me run into it and be safe.
Let running to You be my first move, not my last resort.
28. Psalms 34:19 (KJV)
“Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.”
Prayer: Many are my afflictions, but You deliver me from them all, including this one.
Let deliverance be as thorough as this promise claims.
29. Philippians 4:6-7 (KJV)
“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Prayer: Let me bring this fear to You instead of carrying it alone, and let peace guard my heart and mind.
Let peace reach the exact place this threat has unsettled.
30. Revelation 12:11 (KJV)
“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.”
Prayer: Let me overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of my testimony.
Let my own story of what You’ve done become part of what wins this too.
Conclusion
Jesus taught this prayer to ordinary people, not just to specialists in spiritual warfare. Deliverance was always meant to be something anyone could ask for plainly, not a complicated ritual reserved for experts.
Pray this directly, naming what you’re facing if you can put words to it.
For protection more broadly, a prayer for peace and protection and a prayer for deliverance and breakthrough pair well with this one.
